Loosing German Language after downloading 64 Bit Version

I have downloaded the 64 Bir Version of thunderbirdand tried to download a german-Language Pack. Instead,I have received a complete thunderbird Installation with a 2nd icon on my desktop.Now,can Isimpli delete the Icon on my desktop or is it possibe,to deinstall this second Thunderbird Installation without the danger,to deinstall my thunderbird Imstallation. x86 means it was 32-bit and not 64-bit. This random unofficial download site only has the en-US version for download and not any of the other locales of Thunderbird and also not for Mac OSX and Linux.
Actually if you look a bit below the green Download Now button it has the Other Languages: Stable: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/all.html so there was no need to download from that site.

It is my understanding there are no official 64 bit Windows builds for Thunderbird. Therefore
- what version are you downloading (beta, daily, nightly)?
- the English version or any localized one?
- from where (URL)?

What second installation? Unless you set a new installation directory in the process a new version will be installed over an existing one.

Uninstalling Thunderbird will not touch the profile, unless you deliberately check the box to delete the profile.
You didn't mention whether your desired localization now works or not.
Probably Thunderbird 48.0a1Nightly channel development builds which are only en-US.

A couple of things.
- Create a backup of your Thunderbird profile.
- Uninstall whatever Thunderbird version you downloaded from obscure sites.
- Download the version for your language from https://www.mozilla.org/thunderbird/all/ and install it
Job done.
Note, there is no official Thunderbird 64 bit release version for Windows at this time. The 32 bit version runs perfectly fine on 64 bit Windows. Therefore don't try to get a 64 bit build from some obscure sites, unless you know exactly what you're doing. Always download Thunderbird from mozilla.org.
