Thunderbird Saved Search: When excluding a folder from the search its subfolders remain selected

I do not understand the logic behind the folder selection in the saved searches:

When I un-select a folder from my saved search, the sub-folders are not un-selected. The selection and un-selection does not act hierarchically. For example, if I want to un-select an entire mail folder tree I need to work my way down, open each level of folders and unselect one by one.

What I think is missing:

  • Folder selection should be hierarchical and select/unselect the entire sub-tree
  • The "Select Folders" window should show whether a folder contains other selected folders.

Is this a bug or an intended feature?
