The latest Firefox removes the Add-on bar and now places an Add-on's button in the main toolbar. We'll explain how to customize their display or how to restore the Add-on Bar if you wish.

Add-ons in the toolbar - Win8

Note: This applies to the latest Firefox Beta version which can be downloaded from mozilla.org/beta.

Arrange the Add-ons in your toolbar or move them to the menu

Of course you can customize where these buttons live. Move them to another part of the toolbar or place them in the menu. It's up to you. Give it a try:

  1. Click the menu button The image "new fx menu" does not exist. and choose Customize.
    Customize Fx 29 Win8
  2. When you are done, click the green Exit Customize button.

Use the Add-on Bar Restorer

If you are missing the Add-on bar at the bottom, you can install the "Addon Bar (restored)" add-on. After installation you will see a new bar at the bottom and can add buttons to it:

  1. Click the menu button The image "new fx menu" does not exist. and choose Customize.
  2. Drag your addon buttons to the new add-on bar at the bottom.
  3. When you are done, click the green Exit Customize button.

Use the Classic Theme Restorer to bring the Add-on bar back

If you'd like to have the old-style Add-on bar and even more options for customing Firefox, install the Classic Theme Restorer add-on. Once you've installed it, here's how to enable the Add-on bar:

  1. Click the menu button The image "new fx menu" does not exist. and choose Customize.
  2. Click the Show / Hide Toolbars button and select Add-on Bar.
  3. Click the green Exit Customize button.
