This feature is available for testing on Beta, Developer Edition and Nightly versions of Firefox.

Picture-in-picture view lets you watch videos in a floating window so you can continue watching even when you switch windows. Firefox gives you controls for turning picture-in-picture view on or off when you hover over a video.

If you don’t want to see the controls while hovering, you can hide that option in Firefox. (Note: You can still turn on picture-in-picture view by right-clicking on a video.)

  1. In the Menu bar at the top of the screen, click Firefox and select Settings (select Preferences on older macOS versions).Click the menu button Fx89menuButton and select Settings.
  2. Scroll down to the Browsing section.
  3. Clear the check mark for “Enable picture-in-picture video controls”.

If you later want to re-enable the controls, simply add back the check mark.
