This feature is only available in English locales in the US and Canada only.
When you’re filling out a form, Smart Window can recognize the context of the form, the type of information it’s asking for, and help you fill the form faster. It does this by finding suggestions in your related open tabs.
For example, if you’re completing a job application in one tab and have your profile or a resume open in another, Smart Window can find suggestions for how to fill the job application fields, a step that otherwise requires manual entry or copy and paste. Smart Window prompts you to review any suggestions it finds before filling them in, so you’re always in control.
Any autofill information you already have saved in Firefox (Settings > Passwords and autofill), such as your name, address, passwords, and payment information, gets filled as usual, directly from the data stored on your device. Nothing leaves your device or is sent to any AI model.

Choose which tabs Smart Window can use
When suggesting tabs to use as sources, Smart Window looks for open tabs that are relevant to your form and may contain useful information related to the form you're filling. You're in control of which tabs Smart Window uses.
Before filling the form, you can:
- Review the suggested tabs.
- Deselect tabs you don't want to use.
- Select other relevant tabs you have open.
Smart Form Fill uses the selected sources to help generate information for fields that regular Firefox autofill can't complete.
How Smart Window works with saved autofill information
Information you already saved locally in Firefox for autofill (Settings > Passwords and autofill), such as your name, address, password, or payment information, can be inserted directly into supported fields as usual. Nothing leaves your device or is sent to any AI model.
For other fields, Smart Window attempts to understand the context of the form and use information from the sources you select to suggest what data to use or a response to enter.
Frequently asked questions
Why don't I see the Fill from sources option on every form?
The Fill from sources option only appears on supported forms that have at least five text fields Smart Window can help fill.
Online forms are built differently, so Smart Window may not recognize every form or field type. If you don't see the option, the form may not be supported or may not have enough supported fields.
You can still fill out the form manually or use Firefox's regular autofill features where available.
