About SMS
SMS stands for "Short Message Service". You can learn more about it here on Wikipedia.
Opening The SMS Application
To open the SMS application, tap the SMS icon which is the second icon in the screenshot below which is located at the bottom of the screen.
Once the SMS application has opened, you will be taken to a screen where your sent and received messages are.
Create A New Message
To create and send a new message, tap the new message icon as shown.
After tapping the create a message icon, you will see two fields:
- Recipient
- Message
The screenshot shown below is the recipient field.
The screenshot below is the message field.
There are 2 ways to enter the recipient's information.
- Manually
- From your contacts
You can enter the phone number of the recipient manually into the recipient field.
You can also choose the recipient from your contacts by tapping the contact icon.
In the message field, you can enter the message you would like to send.
Once you have finished typing up your message, tap the button to send it.
After that, you will be taken to the thread of the messages sent and received between you and the recipient. Beside your sent messages you may see a spinning circle. The spinning circle lets you know that the message is being sent.
Here is an example of the spinning circle.
New Message Notifications
The following is a screenshot of the notification bar that is located at the top of the phone.
To see notifications for new messages, tap and hold onto the notification bar, drag it down and then select the new message notification.
View Your Messages
You can view your sent and received messages by tapping on the SMS icon. From there, you will be taken to your messages.
Tap the message in the list you would like to view and you will be taken to the thread of sent and received messages like below.
Delete Your Messages
To select the message(s) for deletion, tap the delete messages icon as shown.
You can select which message threads to delete by tapping the "O" icon as shown.
After tapping the "O" icon, the dot will be filled red with a checkmark as shown.
An alternative way to delete all messages is by tapping the
button. To deselect all, tap .
When you are ready to delete the selected messages, tap the delete button which is located at the top right of the screen. The button of it is shown below.
After tapping on the button, you will be prompted to confirm the deletion. The confirmation message will look like the one below.
To confirm, tap the
button or to cancel, tap the button.
