If you've got more than five or ten tabs (like many other people do), say 20, 60 or more, here's a few shortcuts that you'll love!
Table of Contents
Double-click the arrows on the ends of the tab strip
This one is easy!
- Position your pointer over the arrows at either end of the of the row of tabs (
- Here:
or there:
or ) and double-click it to scroll to that end.
- Here:
Wow! It scrolled the entire strip of tabs!
Try it out: If you don't have a bunch of tabs open at the moment, go ahead and open a few blank ones. Then give it a try to get a feel for how it works.
Use your mouse or trackpad to scroll though your tabs
- Position the pointer between the two arrows at each end of the row of tabs.
- Now try scrolling up and down. Scrolling down will move the tabs to the left and scrolling up will move them to the right.
Note: It may take time to get used to which direction your tabs scroll in response to your mouse wheel movement.
Use the List All Tabs button to select the tab you want
When you have more tabs than will fit in the tab strip, a little downward triangle, called the List All Tabs button, appears at the far right end.
- Click the downward triangle at the far right end of the tab strip
(the List All Tabs button) to see a list of all the tabs you have open in that window.
- Click on the name of a tab in the list to switch to it.
Note: Just like it's possible to have more tabs open than fit in the tab strip, you can also have more tabs open than fit in the all tabs list. In that case, you can use the arrows at the top and bottom of the list or your mouse wheel to scroll though them.
Tying it all together
Now you can see how easy it is to keep track of your tabs. Congratulations, you've mastered the easiest way to use one window with lots of tabs! With these shortcuts you'll never need to open another window in Firefox again.
