Firefox OS lets you control the sounds on your phone. Learn how to change your alerts or ringtones, add your favorite song to your ringtone library, or turn your phone on vibrate or silent mode.

Change your ringtone or alerts
- Open the Settings app
- Scroll down to the Personalization section and tap .
- Tap the Ringer
- Tap a ringtone or alert sound in the list to preview it.
- Tap the circle to the right of a sound to select it.
- Then tap .

- Scroll down to the Personalization section and tap .
- Tap the button under Ringer or Alerts to see your list of available sounds and ringtones.
- Tap a sound to listen to it.
- When you've found a sound you like, select it by tapping the circle next to it, then tap .

Get new ringtones
Here's how to add new ringtones if you don't like the ones that come with your phone:
- Add the music files to the Music library on your Firefox OS phone: Adding music.
- Open the Settings app .
- Scroll down to the Personalization section and tap .
- Tap .
- Tap the the plus symbol at the top of the screen. Firefox OS will open your music collection.
- Choose the file that you want to add to your ringtone library.
- Tap at the top right corner of the screen.
- On the next screen, choose whether or not to use that file as your default ringtone, then tap Save.
Here's how to add new ringtones if you don't like the ones that come with your phone:

Got a ringtone that's too good to keep to yourself? Share it with other devices!
- Open the Settings app .
- Scroll down to the Personalization section and tap .
- Tap .
- Tap the menu button next to the ringtone you want to share.
- Tap , then choose the method you want to use: email, messaging or Bluetooth transfer.
Silence incoming calls
Quickly silence your phone in a meeting or at a movie theater.
- Press and hold the power button for two seconds to bring up the phone menu.

- To turn the ringer back on, press and hold the power button again, then choose from the menu.

Turn on vibrate mode
Make your phone vibrate when you receive a call.
- Open the Settings app .
- Scroll down to the Personalization section and tap .
- Tap the switch next to Vibrate to turn it on: .
Your phone will still make a ringing sound unless you turn down the volume on your ringer.
Adjust the volume on your phone
While you can use the volume buttons to quickly make your sounds louder or softer, you also have the option to set different volumes for different functions:
- Open the Settings app .
- Scroll down to the Personalization section and tap .
- Use the slider next to each of the following settings to adjust their volume:
- Media: Video or audio that you view or listen to on your phone.
- Ringers & Notifications: Ringtones and notifications for messages, updates and app notifications.
- Alarm: Controls the sound the alarm clock makes on your phone.
