Certain Firefox users may come across a message in the extensions panel indicating that their add-ons are not allowed on the site currently open. As of Firefox version 115, we have introduced a new back-end feature to only allow some extensions monitored by Mozilla to run on specific websites for various reasons, including security concerns.
Our team is working continuously to develop this functionality and to provide users the ability to manage these restrictions for each individual add-on in the future.
How can I re-enable the add-ons that are not allowed on some websites?
We understand that installing add-ons is a user choice and, as with your security, we also take this matter very seriously. If you are aware of the associated risk and still wish to allow the add-ons that have been disallowed on a website by Mozilla, you can do it from the configuration editor (about:config):
- Type about:config in the address bar and press EnterReturn.
A warning page may appear. Click to go to the about:config page. - Search for the extensions.quarantinedDomains.enabled preference.
- If this preference does not yet exist, the options for adding it will show up:
- Select the Boolean type.
- Click the button to create the preference.
- Click the Toggle
button next to this preference to change its value to false.
- Restart Firefox.
