You may see a message at the top of Firefox Settings that says “Your browser is being managed by your organization”.
This usually means that Firefox settings are being controlled by rules applied to your device by a network administrator, security software, or local policy. Some features may be locked or unavailable due to these rules, called enterprise policies.

What this message means
Firefox shows this message when it detects that one or more policies are affecting your browser settings.
This message does not mean Firefox is broken — it simply means it is being managed by software or system settings outside of the Firefox environment.
Why some features may be disabled
You might see this if:
- You’re using a work or school device, where IT manages settings for consistency and security
- You have antivirus, parental control, or security software that sets policies
- You or another user manually configured local policies
See which policies are active
- Open the Firefox menu (≡) and choose Settings.
- Click the Your browser is being managed by your organization link at the top of the Settings page.
- The Policy Details page will show all active policies and what they do.
What you can do about it
If you're on a work or school computer, contact your IT administrator with any questions.
If you're on a personal device:
- Review the list of active policies
- Check for recently installed software (like antivirus or parental controls)
- Uninstall or adjust that software if you don’t want Firefox to be managed
