Of course a key part of localizing support is localizing not just the documents but the website itself. For this we use Verbatim - https://localize.mozilla.org/projects/sumo. As always, if you have any questions about Verbatim or support localization, just contact me, Kadir - atopal (at) mozilla (dot) com.

We currently have two servers for SUMO:

  1. https://support.mozilla.com
  2. https://support.allizom.org

The first one is our real server, called prod. The second one is for testing. Things you translate on Verbatim are automatically transferred to the testing server. We have to manually transfer over strings to prod, which happens once a week.

How to localize the start page?

The startpage consists of three parts: the majority of the page, including the upper part and the right sidebar, are translated using Verbatim. The lower left and middle panels, however, are normal Wiki pages.

Start Page

If you've translated the strings in Verbatim, you're almost done -- the only parts remaining are the left sidebar and the middle panel. In both cases, you only need to translate the headings. Once this is done, page titles will be automatically translated if you have translated the articles.

Wikipage 1, the left sidebar: https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/home-page-quick

Wikipage 2, middle panel: https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/home-page-explore

When you localize these two pages, make sure you use the same titles and slugs as the English pages. Otherwise, your startpage will break: Use the same title and slug as in English
