A theme is a type of Thunderbird add-on which changes the visual appearance of Thunderbird. This article describes how to find, install and manage themes in Thunderbird.

What are themes?

A theme changes the appearance of Thunderbird, such as the color scheme and background image of the toolbars. Some types of themes can also change the buttons' appearance and can make Thunderbird look like a completely different program.

There are two types of themes available for Thunderbird:

  • Background themes - lightweight themes that can change the color scheme and background image of the Thunderbird toolbars.
