Generate a secure password in Firefox

When creating a new account on a website, it can be difficult to think of a unique and secure password. Remember not to reuse passwords between sites or have a password that is easy to guess, click here to learn more about how to create a secure password. When signing up for a new account on a website, Firefox can generate a secure password for you.

To generate a new password:

  1. Click on the password field.
  2. Open the Context Menu for this field with a right click secondary click (also known as Control click or two finger click).
  3. Select Use Generated Password…

  4. Firefox will generate a password. Click Use a Securely Generated Password to autofill the field with this password.

  5. Firefox will save the password for this website in Lockwise. The password can then be retrieved to confirm the password.
