Note: This applies to the latest Firefox release version which can be downloaded from mozilla.org/mobile.
For Android version 4 and above, the menu item was removed from Firefox to meet Google's application guidelines.
Note: You can still close Firefox or any other app from the app switch screen by using the app switching button

Here's how to install an add-on to bring back the menu item so you can close Firefox.
- Tap the button (either at the bottom right on some devices or in the upper right of the browser) , then tap and tap .
- Tap the
icon in the upper-right of the Add-ons screen. Alternatively you could go directly to https://addons.mozilla.org/android/ to achieve the same result.
- Search for quitnow.

- Tap the search result.

- Tap the button.

- In the new displayed menu, tap to install the QuitNow add-on.
Your Firefox menu will now have a menu item that allows you to exit Firefox for Android.
