The Page Info window in Firefox shows detailed information about the website you’re visiting—including security status, media files, and site-specific permissions. It also lets you make certain changes, like blocking autoplay or controlling camera access.

Open the Page Info window

You can open the Page Info window in several ways:

  1. Click the padlock icon Fx89Padlock to the left of the address bar.
  2. Click the arrow in the Site Information pop-up.
  3. Select More Information.

Other ways:

  • If the Menu bar is enabled,In the Menu bar, click Tools and select Page Info from the drop-down menu.
  • Use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + ICommand + I.

What you can and can’t change from Page Info

The Page Info window allows some direct permission changes. Others must be adjusted in Firefox Settings or are not changeable for security reasons.

Sections of the Page Info window

General

Shows the basic page details:

  • Title – The page title shown in your tab
  • Address – The URL of the website
  • Type – The kind of file or document the page is (e.g., text/html)
  • Render mode – Whether Firefox displays the page in standard or quirks mode
  • Text encoding – How characters on the page are interpreted
  • Size – The page size
  • Modified – When the page was last updated

Media

Lists all images, background files, and other media loaded with the page. You can:

  • View file type, size, and dimensions
  • Preview images
  • Save individual items to your device

Permissions

Here’s where you can allow or block the site from doing things like:

To override a permission:

  1. Uncheck Use Default
  2. Choose Allow, Block, or Always Ask

Security

Website identity

  • Website – Shows the site’s domain.
  • Owner – Only displays if verified by a certificate authority.
  • Verified by – The certificate authority that issued the site’s certificate.

Why Firefox might say a site is “Not Secure”: Firefox checks if the website uses HTTPS with a valid certificate. Even if you trust the site, Firefox needs technical proof that it's encrypted. For example, a site with expired or self-signed certificates will trigger a warning.

Privacy & history

  • Have I visited this website before today?:Shows if you've previously visited the domain. If this appears incorrect, it may be due to cleared history or private browsing.
  • Is this website storing information on my computer?:Shows if cookies or storage are being used. You can click Clear Cookies and Site Data for that domain.
  • Have I saved any passwords for this website?:Shows if Firefox has stored login credentials. Click View Saved Passwords to open the Password Manager.
