Firefox 3.6.29 and Firefox 12 (April 24, 2012) are the last versions of Firefox that will work with the original version of Windows XP and Windows XP Service Pack 1. They won't be updated with security and stability fixes. To keep your computer and personal information safe, we recommend that you upgrade for free to Windows XP Service Pack 3 and install the latest Firefox. This article goes over your upgrade options.
Table of Contents
Option 1: Upgrade for free to Windows XP Service Pack 3
For older versions of Windows XP, Service Pack 3 is a free upgrade from Microsoft. Installing this upgrade is the most secure option and will allow you to run the latest and greatest Firefox.
Option 2: Switch to Opera
If you can't upgrade Windows, you can switch to the latest version of the Opera web browser.
Option 3: Switch to Linux
If you can't upgrade Windows but want to keep your computer and information secure, you can replace Windows with Linux. Linux is a free and open source operating system that will allow you to run the latest Firefox.- Ubuntu is a popular version of Linux because it's easier to install and use than some others.
