Except where noted, these changes apply to Firefox 154 and Firefox 153.1 ESR. Firefox 153 is the current ESR.

Release Schedule Changes

Firefox is moving from a four-week release schedule to a two-week release schedule beginning with Firefox 155. This change will allow bug fixes, updates, and features that are ready to ship to reach users more quickly.

With this change, we are also changing how we communicate enterprise-specific changes. This will be the last standalone Enterprise Release Notes page. Going forward, enterprise-relevant changes, including new and updated enterprise policies, will be included in the regular Firefox release notes.

Bug Fixes

  • The SearchEngines.PreventInstalls policy did not prevent users from manually adding search engines in Settings or from the context menu. This was fixed in bug 2052965.
  • The -width and -height command line options did not correctly set the Firefox window size. This was fixed in bug 1635927. (Firefox 154 only)

Other Changes

  • Extended Protection (channel and service binding) for Windows SSPI authentication worked when using SPNEGO, but not when using Kerberos directly. This was fixed in bug 1179722.

Policies

  • The DefaultBrowserSettingEnabled policy has been added to prevent users from changing the default browser.
  • The CNSA2KeyAgreementEnabled policy has been added to enable CNSA 2.0 key agreement. (Firefox 154 only)
  • The SanitizeOnShutdown policy has been updated with an Exceptions option to configure sites whose data should not be cleared on shutdown. (Firefox 154 only)
