Thunderbird can automatically save copies of your emails as you compose them.

  1. From classic view, select your email account from the left column.
  2. Click on Composition and Addressing on the left menu.
  3. In the Composition section, click the Global Composing Preferences. The Composition window will open.
  4. Select the General tab and check the box next to Auto save every __ minutes. Enter the frequency you'd like Thunderbird to save your messages (three minutes is usually reasonable).

Your webmail settings or add-ons might also affect how often your email drafts get saved.
