Starting in Firefox version 40, a version of the Pocket add-on is included by default. If you do not want to use it, disabling that feature is fairly simple.

To disable the default Pocket add-on:

  1. Open a new browser tab and navigate to about:config
  2. Read the warning and click I'll be careful, I promise!.
  3. In the search field on top of the page that opens search for browser.pocket.enabled (you can copy and paste it from here).
  4. Right click the line that includes the value True and select Toggle from the options, so that the value now says False.
  5. Restart your browser.

You should no longer see the Pocket add-on options in the menus.

If you want to re-enable the feature, do the following:

  1. Open a new browser tab and navigate to about:config
  2. Read the warning and click I'll be careful, I promise!.
  3. In the search field on top of the page that opens search for browser.pocket.enabled (you can copy and paste it from here).
  4. Right click the line that includes the value False and select Toggle from the options, so that the value now says True.
  5. Restart your browser.
