= Creating a new calendar =
From the Calendar Tab (not the sidebar):

Next, you get to choose whether you want to create the calendar "on your computer" or "on the network".

When choosing "On my computer", you can only use the calendar on the computer you're working at. All the data is stored inside an internal database (the sqlite file local.sqlite in your Thunderbird profile).

With Thunderbird, it's possible to have multiple calendars. During email account setup, your existing online calendars can be automatically detected. Or you can set up new calendars in Calendar Mode or Task Mode.

After setting up your existing email address with convenient auto-configuration, Thunderbird will now automatically detect your remote address books and calendars based on the user information you provided.
When adding a Google mail account to Thunderbird, you can easily add your existing Google calendars and address book (see [https://thunderbird.topicbox.com/groups/beta/T9886a223d58b7aad-M09757bc2dee271bf7d29580b Notes]).
