This article applies to the new Firefox Quantum (Firefox version 57 and above).

When you install Firefox, you might see your search bar and your address bar combined into a single bar. If you prefer separate address and search bars, you can restore the search bar by following these steps:

add search bar 57
  1. In the Menu bar at the top of the screen, click Firefox and select Settings (select Preferences on older macOS versions).Click the menu button Fx89menuButton and select Settings.
  2. Click Search on the left panel.
  3. Click Add search bar in toolbar.
    add search box button 57
  4. The template "closeoptionspreferences" does not exist or has no approved revision.
Tip: Here's another way to add or remove the search bar: Click the menu button Fx57Menu, choose 57customize-icon.png Customize…, drag the search bar into or out of the toolbar and then click Done. See Customize Firefox controls, buttons and toolbars for details.
