Google docs are constantly failing to load or run well

I am a loyal firefox user and have used it for years. Security and features are great. I use Google docs constantly throughout the workday on my Mac and I am constantly having problems with Firefox. Google docs that I work in are constantly re-loading, incompletely downloading, going offline. I typically have 5-10 docs across the platform open at a time, and the problems are preventing me from working effectively. I have tried searching help forums and done the fixes suggested (repeatedly clearing cookies and cache, turning off protections, etc). Nothing works. Any ideas before I switch the Chrome (yuck)?
