Links no longer opening in the same tab
Hello,
Usually, if I left-click on a link on my Firefox browser, it opens in the same tab unless I middle click it which to open it in a new tab. This morning, after opening my Firefox 137.0.1, left-clicking on a link does not open the link in the same tab and it is the same on whatever website I try. How can I restore the previous behavior?

Hello again,
After opening Firefox in safemode, I discovered that left-clicking on links worked as it should. After checking my extensions, it turned out that the extension OpeninChrome was the culprit. I disabled it and everything is back to normal.
Hi Teresa,
It sounds like something might have changed in your Firefox settings or an extension may be interfering. Here are a few things you can try to restore the usual behavior where left-clicking opens links in the same tab:
Check for Extensions: Sometimes browser extensions (like mouse gesture tools or tab managers) can change how links behave. Try running Firefox in Troubleshoot Mode (Menu > Help > Troubleshoot Mode) to temporarily disable extensions and see if the issue goes away. If it does, one of your extensions is likely the cause.
Check Mouse Settings: It’s also worth checking your mouse or touchpad settings in your system preferences. A misconfiguration could be sending a middle-click or modified click instead of a standard left-click.
Try a Different Profile: If nothing else works, you can create a new Firefox profile (go to about:profiles) to test whether your current one is corrupted.
Reset Preferences (Optional): If you're comfortable with it, you could reset your Firefox settings to default. This can fix strange behaviors but will also remove customizations.
Let me know if any of these help or if you’re still having trouble!
