New Firefox Browser
First time I can say I HATE WHAT YOU DID. WHY????????????? is there NO option to use old browser settings and look? I have spent a whole day 'fixing' trying to fix the mess you made. I am visually impaired and all my settings are POOH GONE!!!! Who's idea is it to put this grey text on white background? Must be nice to have good eyes.
PLEASE GIVE US UNDO option to go back. So NOT up to your standards...must have hired the 5th graders to do the work. MOST UPSET, NOT HAPPY AND VERY FRUSTRATED. And don't tell me to "look" at the ways to Fix it...I have. Don't understand it as I'm not a 5th grader I'm in my 70's.

Hi Peg, I don't know whether you've already found this, but just in case:
For the tab bar:
For testing purposes, there is a preference to switch the tab bar and address bar between new style and old style. This is not expected to continue in Firefox 90, but maybe you want to use it for now.
(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button accepting the risk.
(2) In the search box in the page, type or paste browser.proton.enabled and pause while the list is filtered
(3) Double-click the preference to switch between true (new style) and false (old style)
Where else are there problems?
Thanks for the reply. Don't know where that is. Tried. Pulled up Bing search engine? Why bother if it's only temporary? Get use to it and it will change....I'm too old for change. Do you know how to get this stupid font darker? HATE GREY ON WHITE... NEED black on white to see. Oh well.
The grey text on white is diabolical. See other questions about changing the Theme back to previous version, as System Theme seems not to be enabled, it only shows as Light Theme.

about:config is an internal page and that is its entire address. You can find more information on this page in the following article: Configuration Editor for Firefox.

If you prefer the colors of the "Default" theme from Firefox 57-88, someone created an add-on theme that emulates it. You can give it a try here:
https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/photon-colors/
If that color doesn't suit you, the Firefox Color extension lets you create your own theme:
Thank you for your reply. I do not understand why we need to use a created "addon" when there is a System Theme which may be exactly what we need but it is not enabled through the new Firefox version 89? How can we get the System Theme enabled please?

I'm not aware of any way to configure/modify the built-in themes. If there is a bug in the theme -- if it is not working the way it was intended to work -- it probably has been filed by now.
Thanks for your reply. I am sorry but I do not understand what you mean by "it probably has been filed by now".

If the "System" theme is supposed to adapt to some colors from your system -- I have no idea -- and it's not working as intended, someone can file a bug on https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/ to get that fixed in a future release (Firefox 90, 91, or 92).
I am not Techie so cannot post the bug. Can I uninstall v 89? If so, how do I do it please?

It's easy to remove Firefox 89 and install another version, but older versions will prompt you to create a new profile and won't migrate your data. Migrating your data is considerably more complicated than using an add-on theme like https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/photon-colors/ or switching off the new tab styling using a preference as described earlier in this thread: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1339179#answer-1418503
I followed your advice and got to the "browser.proton.enabled" step and waited and waited and waited . . . Nothing happened. Absolutely hate the new low-contrast theme.

When you double-click it to change to false, the tab bar should switch back to the Firefox 88 style of connected tabs with dividing lines.
