Hello there Robert mcnair scott
What pictures do you want to attach are these large files above 20 mb? How do you use this function to attach is it computer? Can you tell us?
Right-click on each image file and select 'properties' or 'info' to see its size. To fix this issue because the files were too big, try to send them in two separate emails, if this is possible, or resize or compress the images .
If you want to import data or other files, you may do so. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/thunderbird-import

There are several ways to attach files: dragging files over the message, using the attach button, et cet. What is not working for you? What happens when you try?
Hello there
Dragging these files is also a good option.
Alternative solutions are there too.
Can you use the paperclip symbol? Hold down the Ctrl key (win) or Command key (mac), click on all 4 pictures to highlight them, and click open
Or you can zip these files (for Windows and Mac). For Windows, select all four pictures, right-click, and choose Send to > Compressed (zipped) folder. Then, attach the zip folder to your email if possible .
Can you reach that goal if you use these steps to solve the issue?

I have been attaching small jpgs to plaintext Thunderbird messages for years with no problem until about last week. I used to have an "Attach" button I think, I don't see that anymore, so I try to use menu File-Attach. That offers me several things to attach (File(s), Web page, My vCarc...) and I pick "Files" but instead of browsing to select the file, Tbird just stops, cursor in text not blinking. If I continue to type text in the message the text appears normally. I can not navigate to select a file to attach. Ctl-Shift-A stops the same way. Experimenting I find that if I switch from Composing plaintext only to Composing Automatic then I CAN attach a file but the plaintext message is saved with html cluttering up my Sent folder. I do not want to send html. Why can't I attach a file to a plaintext message like I used to? Tbird 157.0.1 snap for Ubuntu
