Email is vulnerable to spammers. I've noticed that the emails associated with most of my social accounts have been leaked to spammers even though I never publish my addresses.

So I use the Filter mechanism of Thunderbird.

But I can't find how to "bounce" an incoming email, meaning to treat it as though the RECIPIENT account on my server does not exist.

Does anyone know how to get the Filter to bounce incoming email in this way? I think it would be more effective in cutting down spamming than just ignoring the incoming email.

Hi- previous versions of the iOS Firefox would provide a confirmation pop-up when you hit 'Clear Private Data' under the Settings - Data Management menu.

Version 130.1 (45056) no longer seems to provide the confirmation message....and crucially does not seem to clear all the data. There is often retention of bookmarks and URLs under the Web Site Data section?

Has the confirmation funcationality been removed or is it not working correctly? Can it be reinstated or do I need to regress to an earlier version that did provide the confirmation and expected clearance of data?

I'm having trouble breaking down the specific behavior of fingerprinting protection for the 3 settings levels.

According to the Windows release notes dated 1 October 2023, "Additionally, you can choose whether to block Suspected Fingerprinters in all windows or just in private windows", but also, "To disable Fingerprinting Protection and return to the default settings, simply select "Standard" or "Strict"

In my reading, these two statements conflict. I'm under the impression that "known fingerprinter" blocking is always active, even on standard. Does enabling "Strict" enhanced protection also enable "suspected fingerprinter" blocking, and if so, is it active on all windows or only in private browsing? Does that mean we need to use the "Custom" setting to enable suspected fingerprinting blocking in all windows?

My question is the same for Firefox for Android 131.0, except in the mobile app's case, the release notes contain even less detail - so I could also be off-base there. TBH I am probably missing something obvious, so if anybody can even point me in the right direction I'd be grateful!

Thanks for any insight anybody can provide!

Hi Thunderbird Support Team,

I recently installed the latest version of Thunderbird in a Hyper-V virtual machine and encountered the following message: " Approval required Mozilla Thunderbird This app requires your admin's approval to: Read and write access to mailboxes via IMAP. Read and write access to mailboxes via POP.

Allows the app to have the same access to mailboxes as the signed-in user via POP protocol.

This is a permission requested to access your data in xx Send emails from mailboxes using SMTP AUTH. Maintain access to data you have given it access to View users' basic profile"

This was functioning with the previous version of Thunderbird, but now my IT team requires additional information about what the app is trying to do with our Office 365 environment. The approval process is crucial because some apps may introduce security risks or seek extensive access to our Office 365 resources.

Could you please provide more detailed information on the permissions requested and the specific changes in this version compared to previous versions? This will help in getting the necessary approval from our IT team.

Thank you for your assistance.

Best regards, Jenny

Anyone want to try something tough...? I find that the telephone confirmation system for ID checking used by Paypal does not work with Firefox. It used to, but now it won't. The system offers to call you, putting you up a number of the screen, and then calls you to get you to put that number into the keypad on your phone. It used to work fine, and validation was not an issue. There is no problem when using Chrome, but only with Firefox. There is some sort of issue with the connection as, when using Firefox, Paypal's computer does not seem to 'hear' the numbers entered on my phone, then suddenly, unasked, another code appears!

Anyone had this? Justin

Hello there,

I'm using an own Certificate Authority in order to create certificates for intranet websites. There's a chain of trust, I always imported the public part of the ca-certificate into the phones "Trusted credentials" store of android. Then it is listed under the Users-Tab. The expected behavior would be, that the Browser now trusts the all the self signed certificates from that CA. This worked many years, however this is not the case any more. Now I get warnings in Firefox under Android, that the intranet sites are not providing a secure connection. (Secure connection failed, Accept the risk and continue)

Using Firefox on an actual desktop pc however works, the certificates are still trusted, the connection is shown as secure.

I wonder what has happened to the Android browser version. Is it a bug or is it a feature?

Btw, googles chrome also doesn't accept the certificate any more, also says insecure connection. And on Desktop, they also work.

I'm not questioning that it works on desktops. Thats's why I made all the effort to set up a local CA, to have a secure connections within my intranet. I just wonder why it doesn't work on mobile phones any more.

Best regards Ben

I'm curious about the current state of Web Speech API. This is a W3C specification that was implemented in both Firefox and Chrome and includes Automatic Speech Recognition.

There is a demo page at https://mdn.github.io/dom-examples/web-speech-api/speech-color-changer/

To use this in Firefox, I have to change two settings in about:config to True: media.webspeech.recognition.enable media.webspeech.recognition.force_enable

There used to be a setting that could be used to set a specific endpoint for the actual STT processing, but that doesn't show up in my list of settings anymore. I guess I could add it, but have no idea if it would be respected by the browser or what the endpoint should look like. Anyway, whatever endpoint Firefox is currently using does not seem to be working anymore, so I just get an "Error occurred in recognition: network" error.

In Chrome it works, but most likely is sending my raw audio to Google Cloud STT to do the actual transcribing. I'd like to be able to control the endpoint so I can use a local service connected to VOSK or Whisper or some other locally hosted STT engine.

I'm thinking about implementing something using WebRTC, but if anyone is working along similar lines, I'd like to join that project rather than creating my own.

Is anyone working on this?

I have signed into my Firefox account on my parents computer in order to see my bookmarks & have saved passwords, etc easily found, signed into & used. Sync is off but after I sign out bookmarks & password still on this computer. I don't want to remove these bookmarks & passwords from my Firefox account on my home desktop or my phone - just from this one computer. Research I found say a Firefox account not for this "function" - but now that I've done it is there NO way to remove it & not have to start from scratch & thus lose all the saved data, extensions, etc.???
