Got to number 4; then attempted something different: Tried just gmail.com (without parameters) and that worked. I think I'm actually back where I was: (https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/#inbox) and all is still working. No idea what was wonky, but now working again. Thank you for your suggestions...
