We are seeing numerous reports from Windows 10/11 users that Firefox 97 doesn't work at all or only works briefly. One possible explanation is an incompatibility between Webroot security software and 64-bit Firefox 97.

There is a mitigation for this in Firefox 98 (beta/Developer): https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1481454
I mentioned the above SUMO threads in an open bug that explains the deadlock problem with WebRoot: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1752466
The Webroot issue is not specific to Firefox 97. The description for Bug 1752466 shows User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:96.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/96.0

It turned out to be the Webroot issue mentioned above, Bug 1752466 firefox not opening after KB5008353 was installed (Deadlock caused by WebRoot SecureAnywhere)
Here is the question I found where a user reported MS KB5010342 to be causing Firefox 97 to fail:

The PiP team is also looking into this currently https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1753401. It looked like it was affecting Mac OS users on 11.6.3 and Fx 97 when trying to use PiP in Hulu. I was unable to repo this but if anyone sees users noting Picture in Picture not working on V97 for Hulu. Please tag with bug1753401.

It looks like the PiP team is also tracking this on smaller sites too https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1751737
One more thing. Developer release notes say: The @scroll-timeline at-rule and animation-timeline property are now supported. This allows you to define an AnimationTimeline, of which time values are determined by scrolling progress within a scroll container and not by minutes or seconds. Once specified, a scroll timeline is associated with a CSS Animation by using the animation-timeline property. For more information see bug 1676791 and bug 1676782.
Thanks Alice.

However, this scroll timeline feature doesn't work for me. Do I need anything else to make it work?

I have been chatting with Ryan on the Release Management team. He noted that bug1752466 will likely be re opened. Lets use bug1752466 as a tag for those questions related to this issue.

I'm late to this since I've been off most of the week. But here are the SUMO Sprint detail for Firefox 97.

A top issue on the forum is the removal of the preference that allowed users to continue using the old separate Print Preview/Page Setup/Print design of Firefox 83 and earlier. Currently there is no workaround to display the older style of Preview or to skip directly to the system dialog.
User concerns (the ones I remember):
clicking the "Print using system dialog..." link is an extra step/affects efficiency
preview is smaller (I agree, but we only have userChrome.css as a workaround; example)
missing functionality -- settings that exist but the user is unfamiliar, such as expanding More settings to find scaling and Simplified layout
missing functionality -- Firefox isn't working correct in detecting color support with some printers, so this needs to be configured in the system print dialog; modifying individual headers/footers requires using about:config now
missing functionality -- can only select draft mode or printer tray in the Printer Preferences available in the system print dialog, so have to use it anyway
flicker/dysfunction when pressing Page Down because the Destination selector is focused by default
There are bugs on file to:
add a preference to use the system dialog, and a Policy key to bypass Preview; initial code was posted, but it's not clear when this will be finished (#1712104)
add a keyboard shortcut to skip directly to the system dialog; it's not clear this will be adopted (#1667950)

Edit: The above two articles, plus the Manage file types and download actions in Firefox article, were added today to the Sprint page. Kiki may not have noticed my comment, What's new in Firefox 97: Download changes moved to Firefox 98 (see SUMO bug 1753092 and Firefox bug 1753096) so I edited the wiki page again and removed them.
The changes have been delayed until Firefox 98. See:

I updated the "What's new in Firefox 97" section of the Sprint page, https://wiki.mozilla.org/Support/Firefox97 to remove the two articles related to Firefox 97 download management:

Firefox 97 has a change in the fast back-forward cache (BFCache) when fission is enabled. Users will notice that when they go Back, some forms are cleared, similarly to other browsers. Example thread: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/1367777
New Behavior (Fx97 / fission.autostart=true): when you load a page in the BFCache, to avoid a duplicate entry in session history, the page appears to be reloaded, which triggers the onload scripts. https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1745730

Old Behavior (Fx 1.5 - 96): when you go "back" to a cached page, the onload scripts are ignored; developers needed to add pageview scripts to refresh forms in the page. https://developer.mozilla.org/docs/Mozilla/Firefox/Releases/1.5/Using_Firefox_1.5_caching

I must've been confused because the list in our internal mana page contain changes about Download behaviour. Thanks for correcting, Alice.

Just a heads up that this landed today: https://truecolors.firefox.com/ It is associated with the new Colorway themes in V97. I am not sure if we will get any specific inbound for this but if we do get users with questions about the sweepstakes, send them here awesomeness@mozilla.com

The upcoming [https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/97.0.1/releasenotes/ Firefox 97.0.1 release] will include a workaround for the Webroot issue ([https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1752466 bug 1752466]) and a fix for PiP not working on Hulu ([https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1753401 bug 1753401]).

These are some great notes @jsher2000. I am adding them to desktop report this week for the desktop team. Have you been tagging questions for this with anything specific? it would help me to pull some additional data like volume inbound questions for this.

No, it didn't occur to me. I can't create new tags myself, but sometimes I remember to add a tag someone else created.
