I'm in the process of cleaning up Thunderbird e-mail before moving to a new computer. I started with 11,593 e-mails in my Inbox and 7,799 e-mails in my Sent folder. I'm now down to 7,634 in my Inbox and 4,965 in my Sent folder. I've allocated 2 weeks for this process and found that it's taking me about 3 hours per day to meet my daily goals. I'm finding that I'm spending at LEAST half the time responding to "Empty-Trash/Compact-folders" requests. There are times I can delete 50 e-mails at a time without getting a request. Other times I will try to delete ten e-mails and get the request. With the old version of Thunderbird I could literally delete hundreds of e-mails at a time. Can you help? Russ Bukwa Yardley, PA ps. I have intentionally given you specific numbers. Based on my software- and test-engineering experience, I speculate you need to create a stress test to solve this nagging problem.

I have downloaded the latest Thunderbird (for Windows). I have tried setting up my Gmail account in it but just get a failure. Not sure what I am doing wrong.

I start the account setup, set my email address and password and click continue. It shows an automatic IMAP configuration, I click Done. A window pops up from Google for me to allow Thunderbird to access my Google Account. I click Allow. The window goes away and It goes back to the account setup screen with a yellow error box saying "Unable to log in at server. Probably wrong configuration, username or password."

I know my username and password are correct. Any suggestions?

In the past month or two I have been dealing with a constantly recurring issue with Thunderbird getting my emails. Login to server pop.windstream.net with username ----- failed, and then it gives me the option to retry, enter new password, or cancel. 99% of the time, when I hit retry, my email downloads just fine. But I have multiple email accounts that I have to go through the same song and dance on every time I try to download my messages. Sometimes one or more of my email addresses will check and download ok... sometimes all of them will... sometimes none of them will. But choosing the retry option usually yields me good results so it doesn't appear that I have something in my settings that is wrong?? And usually if I shut down of Thunderbird and a restart of it, all email addresses will down;load perfectly the first time I try.

I wonder if it doesn't correlate with a Thunderbird update? I keep hoping that the issue will be resolved as quickly as it came through another update or something but it's been long enough to really start driving me crazy now so can you help me? What is going on with the normally smoothe and agreeable Thunderbird on my very same computer using the very same email addresses all of a sudden?

Hi I am using the latest version of Thunderbird.

I have an extensive archive of historic emails organised by past year which have been exported to local folders on my PC. In the past a search for old email content, for example from a specific individual, has brought up a list of all the emails in the Thunderbird account both stored in the Thunderbird folder hierarchy and also in the offline files and short extracts of these have been shown. Clicking on one of these has always recovered the full email body content for that specific email from wherever it was stored.

More recently I am now finding that the body of the emails in the offline folders are no longer shown and the only way I have been able to view that email is to note the date and then physically scroll through the offline folder for that date.

Please advise.

I'm using Version 128.6.0esr in Windows, but can't do drag and drop file for attachment at all. Previously it still can use this feature but suddenly it came to a stop.

The icon Ø will appear when we are trying to drag and drop a file to the create message window.

We already have tried the troubleshoot with no result.

Any advice on how to repair this?

Thanks

I'm moving my Thunderbird application to a new, similar Lenovo computer running Win11. I have several email accounts (Xfinity, gmail) that work well together on my current computer. I've followed the instructions (very good) on your help article and that generally seems to work. Usually, I move messages to subject or correspondent specific subfolders on a local folder (a holdover from Outlook processes to speed up finding related messages in a large data store (3.5 gig?) I now have the data from my live email accounts in Pop on the new copy of Mozilla. I see a local folder there as well, but my data from there hasn't been moved or Thunderbird hasn't found it. A quick response would be appreciated because I'm returning the current computer for repair and don't want to extend the warranty... yet.

I have an old legacy comcast email account that I want to delete from Thunderbird because Xfinity keeps denying my login attempt to get email even though it's right. I can go to Xfinity and use the same login info and check my mail there and it works. I want to delete the mail account in T-bird but it keeps coming back everytime I open the app. The delete mail account for that email is greyed out under delete account option. I know it probably has to do with the way I set up Thunderbird when I installed it.

I have tried every fix I found online but the check box to delete that email account remains greyed out and the login prompt keeps popping up followed by the message saying that login to that email has failed. Over and over. On the Xfinity site I have enabled the option to allow third party apps to retrieve emails and it has worked on and off thru the years but now it wont let Thunderbird in at all.

Any ideas? I could uninstall Thunderbird and re-enter just the working emails I want to monitor but I am afraid that I will lose a lot of info and I don't want that, or worse the new install will use all the same data again.

If the email was tied in somehow to the framework of Thunderbird upon installation is there a way to get that "remove account" not be greyed out?

Any thoughts are appreciated. Thank You

Rick
