Greetings,

Since a few days ago, I am noticing an anomaly while using Mozilla Firefox app on iPad Air 1 iOS version 12.5.7. Mozilla cannot save pictures anymore via google image search results for the mobile version of the website while it allows to save pictures while on the desktop version of the website. Usually, when clicking an image on the google image result tile it shows the image in full resolution and then by clicking and holding a picture, it use to offer to save the picture (please see picture #1):

Now instead, Mozilla only highlights everything around the image shown in full resolution (on mobile version of the website) and it offers different options for the selected item(s) and it no more offers to save the image as usual (please see picture #2):

Using other websites on their mobile version with the iPad Air and Mozilla app mobile allows to save images. Thus the issue seems to be with the google website on mobile version.

Filling a google “bug” form about the issue listed that the device used was a MacOS 10.15.4, but I’m using an iPad Air 12.5.7. I then double checked with the website deviceinfo.me which also lists that while using Mozilla on the iPad Air, the web browser detected is Safari 13.1 and the OS used is MacOS 10.15.4 (which is not the case). Thus, it seems by two different sources that Mozilla on the iPad is not detected as the correct browser and so does for the OS used. (Please see pictures #3 and 4):

I cross checked these findings with another device on the same network using an iPhone 8 plus, iOS16.7.2 with Mozilla Firefox v120.1 (36298) and the Mozilla app allows to save pictures on the mobile version of google search image and the website deviceinfo.me lists the correct info regarding the iPhone model and the web brower used.

1. What is causint the Mozilla Firefox app on the iPad to prevent from saving pictures on the mobile version of google image search results?

2. Why Mozilla is detected as Safari on the iPad and appears to be running on the wrong OS?

3. Can anything be done to allow Firefox to save pictures on the mobile version of google search image on the iPad? Such as work around or update for the app itself? (Reinstalling the app on the iPad did not fix the issue).

4. Is the issue preventing to save picture with the Mozilla app itself (app which has not been updated since it started not offering to save images a few days ago) or is the issue on the google server side which maybe have been updated?

Thanks in avance,

B

Hello! Everytime I go to search something the first search is always logged out of Google, you can tell because it defaults to light mode as well.(First image attached) If I then go back to the homepage and search again it works perfectly.(Second image attached) It sometimes fixes itself when refreshing the page but not always. It also sometimes works first try, but that only seems to happen when I open the app quickly after closing it. I have checked and unchecked tracking permissions and cookies. Nothing seems to work. Is this just Google being fussy because it’s not their app?

How is it possible that such a glaring design error still exists after so many have asked for so long?

And to those commenting completely incorrect and unhelpful steps that lead to menus that don’t exist in the settings, WHY?

I’m bout to go back to safari. I love everything Firefox stands for but this is such a glaring oversight I can’t help but wonder what else is being missed.

Coming from the Android version there are a few things that are wonky with shortcuts and tabs on the iOS version.

1. For various tabs, the Previous Page function doesn't work correctly. It either loses its memory of what should have been the previous page (even if the previous page was the starting page). It either does nothing, or it loads some page that was not actually the previous page.

2. The web-icons on the shortcut page are momentarily offset/shifted over by one so that the last web-icon is now in the first position and the rest are shifted over. This appearance corrects itself after a moment or two. Also, the appearance of the web-icons is sometimes small and modern looking, then it reverts to larger more clunky looking ones.

3. When I'm in the start-up view (which is my shortcuts), it invokes the keyboard as if my default action is to begin typing an address into the URL field. I must dismiss the keyboard before I can tap shortcuts that are blocked by the keyboard. It would be better if I could tap the URL to invoke the keyboard when I want it.

Hi, thanks in advance for the help.

My case is simple but I have no ideia the WHY is happening. I use google as a search engine but after a few days, it changes automatically to Yahoo (wich i dont like) and i have to go to preferences and change it back to google. This has been repeating for a few months and I'm a bit fed up of it, so, is there any way to keep google permamently?

Also it is curious that if I restore the default seach engines, it does not appear yahoo, and even if i delete all, and only keep google, keeps on happening again.

I'm an apple user and I also have Firefox since forever on the Iphone and Ipad too and no problem with this ones.

Again, thanks

Since yesterday’s update, whenever I try to touch the address bar to enter in something (anything at all), it flashes for a bit and doesn’t do anything. It’ll show the search engine and go back to its usual state. I’ve never had this issue before.

I’ve tried redownloading the app on my iPad (Silicon iPad from 2022. Firefox and my iPad are at the latest version.), but nothing’s worked.

I’m out of options. Can anyone help?

Hello,

I was told to come to this site to report issues with Firefox iOS. I searched this site to see if someone is having a similar issue but didn't find anything.

The issue is simple: I use Firefox on iOS to search Google. I don't want to use the separate Google search app. I like having everything inside Firefox itself. When I initially search for something, the Google search result page loads fine. However, after I use other apps on my phone for while, if I come back to Firefox, then those pages are blank and don't load. I can still see what I searched for in the title of the tab, but the content of the tab is blank and doesn't load even if I press the refresh button. Somehow, this issue MOSTLY happens with the Google search result page, not really with any other website (also I think I've seen this happen with other websites once or twice), which is pretty odd.

I'll try and reproduce it and attach screenshots later.

I’m having difficulty with Firefox on an iPad mini fifth generation running iOS 16.4.1 and today’s version of Firefox. I’ve used Firefox for years with Duck Duck Go as search engine with no problem. Today without warning Firefox stopped accepting URLs typed into the search bar from the Homepage (or any page). It simply ignores the typing and flickers momentarily, keeping the existing URL and page. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox, changing the default search engine from Duck Duck Go to Firefox, and changing from a custom homepage to the Firefox homepage. No luck. Please advise.

Hi,

At Firefox iOS mobile app when I open and do a search, with google configure as main search, I’m always asked to login or accept the google policy.

Why the browser don’t save the information for next search’s? I don't have any option to enable or disable the cookies, I already have disable the tracking protection (at firefox settings) and still happen.

I have search for this topic: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/enhanced-tracking-protection-firefox-ios

But didn't find any solution.

Please let me know how to solve this issue, because with other browsers I don't have it, and I would like to still use Firefox.

thanks.

The issue has been reported here: https://github.com/mozilla-mobile/firefox-ios/issues/12053

I have Firefox as my default browser on iOS. However, tapping “search web” from the context menu that appears when text is selected, opens Safari instead of a new tab in Firefox. The only workaround is to tap “look up” from the context menu and tap “search web” in Siri, breaking up what earlier required a single step into two steps.

Hello, since the latest update, the entire app is really slow. Especially when typing in search terms into the universal browser window. I've also noticed freezing of the app which requires closing out the app and opening again to fix. I have lots of tabs I do not want to lose so deleting the app completely is not an option. Please advise. I believe this has been reported multiple times in the app store with users experiencing the same or similar issues. Thank you

when I enter any search term on any search engine listed on FF, I'm directed to an error page 404. Qwant displays error page, "we have sent you too far mea culpa!"

I have removed and re-installed FF on my phone and re-added Brave and Qwant search engines but they continue returning error messages (404).

If I go directly to the search engine site things function correctly but when using search on the address bar it malfunctions.

In the past the FF search bar with these engines have always worked well.

Any suggestions?
