I use Xero accounting software and used to be able to view pdf within the software up until the recent update. Now it just sits with a spinning wheel. I've found that if I change the setting within Firefox to open the pdf within Firefox the issue is fixed in Xero. But then all pdf's open in Firefox instead of the usual Adobe. This breaks other workflows within my organisation as I need to email the pdf straight away when I download it, so my Windows was set with Adobe as the default for opening pdf's but now Firefox has taken that over. There does not appear to be any way to email the pdf from Firefox other than to save it and then find the file and email it from there which is very time consuming. I don't know what has changed in Firefox, but please can you fix it. I see I'm not the only person with this issue.

Now there is no "other" category for topic of question. This concerns display, layout, and functionality.

Having a huge problem with Firefox recently. It looks and behaves like Microsoft type display, security, and function all around has been superimposed on Firefox. Every time I need to do something online my effort is first redirected to trying to fix configuration problem on Firefox.

It is bad enough to have to do battle with windows 11 to config the layout and display so that it is functional instead of going from one screen to another and another when there is an issues that needs configuring, which always then requires a search and fixing it in Microsoft registry (if possible). Now that is happening with the Firefox display, layout, and functionality which requires a search try to find a page where some kind soul has provided a fix for FF via about:config (if possible).

My brower updated to 136.xx in mid-march after I had already disabled auto update. However, have not had problems until recently, so it seems to be something the microsoft system has started doing to compromise the configured functionality of Firefox. It is no impossible to update or change passwords because "microsoft security" has taken over. Did Microsoft buy controlling interest in Firefox, or what.

Today The layout has started being a problem too. Very elementary without features, with huge words and images although I have changed nothing in Firefox. It is as dumbed down and tedious as Windows 10 when it was brand new. I use a desktop and I really don't want it to look and behave with the limits, and appearnace of a large sized mobile phone screen.

No Firefox update since mid March is showing, however something is interferring with the Firefox display, layout, and functionality. I can only guess it is the Windows 11 OS . . .

Is there a way to protect Firefox from Microsoft meddling with the Firefox configuration?

I have not yet tried to stop enhanced security in each website that is a problem (though most of them currently are, not simply individual websites). Perhaps that is the problem . . . at this problem it needs to be universally disabled if that IS the problem. All the additional security being piled on is simply hoops to jump through for users. We all know it does not stop the pros who are intent on hacking as a team sport. I really do not want to have to fool around signing to a Firefox account, and getting a code to be able to complete the signin to be able configure the brower to simply access the internet.

Starting to think FF, including support, is being managed and responded to by A.I. - which always ends up being a programmer problem that creates the limits. Intentional or not is the question.,,,,

Hoping some kind souls have found solutions, or locations to solutions they are willing to share.

Thanks - from redirected and disenchanted in ABQ

I don't know what is happening, but for the last few weeks my Firefox has been freezing on me, I know the cause is not the website(s) because I can browse them fine with other browsers, also when it freezes it won't let me close it, I even tried to close it using Task Manager, but I get an Access Denied when I click End Task, so I have to restart my PC.

Any ideas qhat can be happening?

Hello, I am having trouble to have my Firefox desktop 128.8.0esr retain my choices on how to handle the various file types it downloads - save, ask or open with a corresponding MS Office application (broad sense).

No problem to reach or configure each type available, e.g. 'Microsoft Word Document >> Always Ask', my issue is that my settings DO NOT get permanently stored, so if I restart Firefox, everything defaults back to standard choices. This is affecting exclusively all choices from 'Applications' list; the radio button option right below on 'what to do with other files' is being respected [surviving Firefox restart] accordingly.

This issue has been around on previous versions as well, I was hoping that next revisions might solve the problem however still frustrated on this particular matter. Have also seen the article https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/change-firefox-behavior-when-open-file and specifically at 'Changing Download Actions' my issue can be described as its item [5. Close Settings page. Changes will automatically be saved] is not working at all.

My 'prefs.js' file is not read-only, I have just K-Now extension installed and I already tried to issue an installation refresh, however problem persists. Thanks to advise on what to do.

I always shut down my PC (Windows 11) while Firefox is open, and it reopens automatically when I turn it back on. However, the settings and the layout are reset.

I tried closing the browser normally via the Close button, but the issue persists.

I tried killing the process via Task Manager, but the issue persists.

I'm not opted into Firefox Studies.

I use quite a few extensions and also Container Tabs. I tried disabling all extensions, but the issue persists.

I just can't disable Container Tabs to test because I would lose too many tabs. Could Container Tabs be the issue?

Firefox using huge amounts of RAM/crashing

I am on a Mac desktop running Ventura 13.7.3 and running Firefox 135 with extension of Ghostery, Privacy Badger, Google Don't Track Me, Facebook Container, FoxClocks and SoftGreenLeaves theme. All of these extensions have been playing nicely with each other for a long time.

Recently I've been having trouble recently with Firefox doing that thing of suddenly freezing/producing multiple windows and I need to refresh in order to get it working properly again. This has happened three times in the last five days - so frequently that I now keep the refresh instructions on my desktop. Today I heard the CPU grinding and clicked open my Activity Monitor to see four listings of 'FirefoxCP Isolated Web Content' running all of them using in excess of 2Gb. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get a screenshot of the Activity Monitor while this was going on as I had the Mac force quite Firefox and the moment I did, the activity stopped, but I've attached an example of the Activity Monitor showing still high CPU values for a few moments of browsing.

So what's up? How can I stop the CPU grab? How can I stop the frequent crashing?
