Opening PDFs automatically with Firefox and, without any changes I might make, saving them with the download function in Firefox, actually ruins the functionality and data entry function of that file. Specifically this happens with PDF files downloaded from the (not all that amusing) PDFs from the FINCEN, (US Financial Crimes Enforcement Network). I do not see why and how Firefox thinks it is allowed to change files that are simply downloaded and saved on Firefox.

In other words, it seems that Firefox strips away certain "permissions" and/or "functions" (like built-in lookup, menu or choice boxes). This means that the file so downloaded via Firefox can no longer be used to properly fill in data, or to look up and choose data items within the file. (I see many times that ANYTHING having to do with "permissions" tends to be an intractable and unsolvable problem for software makers & experts, so, if you do not know right away how to solve the problem, it will probably take you several years to figure this out.)

The PDF in question is created by a government agency. If you have ever dealt with a government agency, then you know that they act sort of like Adobe or Microsoft: "They don't respond, or they do respond & say they do not understand, and if they understand, they are either unwilling or unable to fix the problem."

If there is a switch or option within Firefox, which lets me tell Firefox "Save this file exactly like it is received, nothing added or removed!", that would be nice. I just have not found such an option yet, and it would be nice if it might get provided someday.

I will share my browser data, but I am sort of convinced that a detailed question like mine will not be addressed within that shared data.

Hello. I am setting up a site on Linux server using Apache as reverse proxy , with ASP.NET as application server . since installing SSL , I had few mixed content blocking that i was managed to fix using CSP directive in Apache configuration file. site has no issue with all browser except Firefox. the only issue is that in admin section , to configure a option. system will load a js file that simply a dropdown with list of options to choose from . when using Firefox , it tries to redirect that page to login page . for test , i clicked on the link i located in Developer tools , which directed me to login page , entered my credentials, and scripts loads showing the drop down box and ok button. is been 3 weeks i been looking for every solution and i have done everything .. but nothing have worked. now I am resort to having to use other browsers if i need to use that functionality in admin page. In page header file name : login , location : http://MYDOMAIN.ca/login?ReturnUrl=%2FAdmin%2FDiscountRulesCustomerRoles%2FConfigure%3FdiscountId%3D6%26_%3D1702682353293 , which are not correct . and browser such as Brave and Safari dose not show different path and file name and everything is correct. dose anyone know how to fix this .. ? i saw a solution mentioned as stated resting Firefox ,but can not find a way to reset , but i have reinstalled Firefox and constantly having this issue on this single section of the page . Thanks.

I really need help with a border around my Firefox on windows 10. I've tried every UserChrome workaround that I can find and it may be an issue at the system level. But I've never had this issue on any program.

The border: https://imgur.com/a/S1EL5Oa

-This issue is only present on my win10 desktop and not my win11 laptop. -F11 fullscreen DOES fix the issue but I don't really want it in fullscreen. -Displaying the titlebar also DOES fix the issue but I'd like it hidden. -I do have a second monitor, but I unplugged it and restarted FF. It's the same resolution. -It's not a profile or theme problem. It persists on new profiles and reinstallation.

Hello,

I'm facing a two-fold problem:

1. Firefox (138.0.4, 64-bits): when trying to open a website the URL is loaded in the FF-tab, but the screen stays empty

2. Thunderbird (128.10.0esr, 64-bits): downloading messages isn't possible anymore. When sending a message I get following error message (in Dutch):

Verzenden van het bericht is mislukt. Er is een fout opgetreden bij het verzenden van e-mail: fout met uitgaande (SMTP-)server. De server antwoordde: Cannot connect to SMTP server 127.0.0.1 (127.0.0.1:54601), connect error 10061.

Translated to English:

Sending the message failed. An error occurred while sending the email: Outgoing (SMTP) server error. The server responded: Cannot connect to SMTP server 127.0.0.1 (127.0.0.1:54601), connect error 10061.

I did a ping with following result:

C:\Users\<user>>ping 127.0.0.1

Pinging 127.0.0.1 with 32 bytes of data: Reply from 127.0.0.1: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=128 Reply from 127.0.0.1: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=128 Reply from 127.0.0.1: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=128 Reply from 127.0.0.1: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=128

Ping statistics for 127.0.0.1:

   Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),

Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:

   Minimum = 0ms, Maximum = 0ms, Average = 0ms

I didn't make any changes to FF and/or TB, and my wild guess is that the necessary Mozilla servers aren't available anymore, due to:

Why after the most recent update to version 139.0.4 64bit does any Google search result page on Firefox now use 110% cpu according to about:processes? This isn't the first time a Firefox update has caused this to happen on my computer either. It causes extreme system lag until I'm able to close the Google search result page in Firefox, then everything returns to operating normally. In the past subsequent Firefox updates have resolved the issue but it can sometimes be a while before the next update is released and that one is not always the one that fixes it. Is there something I can do resolve this without having to wait for future updates to be released?

Note: the following is an editted version. 20250706 13:02

when i MUTE some tabs (using the native FF tab mute icon on the tab) sound is muted for just that tab. HOWEVER, it also mutes ALL SYSTEM sounds.

This occurs both with my regular profile and using a default profile for my version (which has NO ADDONS).

It seems to depend on the type of delivery of the music. (Or something!)

This occurs for the following URLs:

   https://14223.live.streamtheworld.com/WRTI_CLASSICAL.mp3
   https://areena.yle.fi/podcastit/ohjelmat/57-llL6Y4blL

However, rather interestinly, it DOES NOT OCCUR for the "standard" WRTI radio station:

   https://www.wrti.org/classical-playlist-search
it seems UNREASONABLE THAT A WEB SITE SHOULD BE ABLE TO EXERT ANY CONTROL upon system sounds. So, I must presume this is a FF bug; however, I have not posted it as such (having no confirmation from others).
