Just out of the blue my browser stopped loading pages. I went through all the processes recommended here and none worked. With the browser open now, its using a high amount of CPU and the power usage is Very High. Nothing is open because it won't load anything. No error messages, just stuck with the little dot going side to side. I used chrome to download and install an update, but still nothing.

just like the title says

and yes I tried every one of these fixes provided in this link

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-crashes-closing-or-quitting

only one i didn't use is hardware acceleration because I just wanna use Firefox normally I am not here for anything that lowers the normal performance I am used to and it's not a real fix

Also Firefox is literally the only thing that crashes on my PC, even other browsers I tried such as Chrome and Opera (both versions including GX) were working just fine, both safe mode and clean installation by deleted the folders in AppData and even deleting everything and updating windows and drivers are up to date, and it still crashes regardless.

Going to %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Crash Reports\submitted doesn't show me Submitted folder which I assume it happened cause of the multiple clean reinstallation I did but there is pending and events and idk how to share a dmp file here.

Only reason I am still sticking to Firefox is the fact that it's more private than say Google, Opera and Edge and that's most important to me, and the problem happens to probably any website, maybe mainly media sites like Twitch and Youtube but it may jsut be coincidence or maybe cause I stay on these for longer than 5-10 mins normally so they are more noticeable.

Thanks in advance, I am surprised not many people mentioning these problems on the internet but I did see some Reddit posts i wonder if not many people are being affected or just that there are many other options for people to bother complain nowadays and I don't use social media much to post there but I may have to do it eventually if it reaches anyone who can fix this.

This started two days ago. I did not recognize what was happening, but the computer slowed to a point of complete unresponsiveness. I had to hold the power button in for a hard shutdown. Next day, I was watching a YouTube video, the video stopped playing, and the computer slowed to a snail's pace. Task Manager revealed something was using up ALL system memory. A look at running processes showed that the culprit was Firefox.

Firefox would start normally, then gobble up all system memory over a few minutes, rendering the computer almost inoperable.

Tried garbage collection, CC, and minimize memory usage under about:memory. This would temporarily reduce overhead, but then it would climb back up next time I started Firefox.

The Ant Video Downloader underwent a redesign days ago; this memory issue started exactly two days ago, on Friday evening, the 7th of January, 2022.

I disabled the add-on. At this moment, Firefox memory use is 642,716 KB of an available 12 GB. There seems to be one main process using the largest share of memory (200-300,000 KB) with 12 other firefox.exe processes running concurrently, all using smaller amounts of system memory. Firefox memory use no longer climbs until all system memory is consumed.

Is there any way to rein in memory use by Firefox add-ons short of disabling them? Are other users reporting this issue? How are add-ons vetted prior to use with the browser? There are few of these video downloaders available. Most are merely copies of a single piece of non-functioning software—but listed under different names, supported by what are clearly fake reviews. Is anyone verifying the integrity of these add-ons in addition to their developers?

In this case, the developer is based in Hong Kong.

Thank you to the community for any assistance offered in this case.

About a month ago, I started having a problem where all pages on YouTube randomly stop loading. It does this with no rhyme or reason and usually for around a minute at a time. It just hangs until it abruptly starts working again. Occasionally (like if I try to log out while this is happening), it will give me an error saying I'm "offline", even though I am most definitely not offline. During this time, all other websites (Google, Wikipedia, Hulu, etc) work fine, so I know it's not my Internet. Other than that, it doesn't give me any errors.

I am using a MSI laptop on Windows 10. Oddly enough, YouTube loads properly in incognito mode and in Windows Edge, but clearing my cache and cookies, disabling my extensions, and updating Firefox to the latest version didn't solve the problem. I even enabled each of my extensions separately in incognito mode while YouTube wasn't loading in a normal window, and each time YouTube loaded properly in the private window while simultaneously not loading in the normal one, so I know none of my extensions are causing the problem. Restarting my computer also didn't do anything. This problem persists when logged in or out of YouTube, no matter the account.

I reported this issue to YouTube back on December 29, but it hasn't been fixed. I also made a post on the YouTube Community a few days ago, but I didn't get any helpful answers. Any help would be appreciated!

I have a problem with running Firefox v95.0.1 on Ubuntu 20.04 operating system. When I first open Firefox, process with command /usr/lib/firefox/firefox -new-window starts and taking up 100% CPU. This process doesn't stop even if after closing Firefox and after a while crash reporters says that Firefox is crashed. While the browser is open and the mentioned process is running, I can't open any web page, since it's loading infinitely. I attached here screenshots of both process details and crash reporter.

This started happening this morning when I booted up my PC.

I started Firefox, and the fans on my PC went crazy, opened up task manager only to see that firefox was apparently using 60% of my CPU and 12GB of RAM. For reference my CPU is Ryzen 9 5900x and I have 32GB of RAM, so this behavior is very strange.

And I wasn't trying to open a lot of tabs, or some resource crunching web app. My homepage is google, and that's what was supposed to open. I even tried to access my router on the local network, since I thought that maybe firefox suddenly just can't get out to the internet, and same thing happened.

I tried resetting firefox to default, reinstalling, checking other browsers to see if they work, checked the support page for similar issues, but found none. If anyone has any suggestions please say, firefox has been my regular browser since the late 2000s, and I'd hate to have to use something else.

Thanks

[Update: This works correctly with HTTP/2 disabled, so it is somehow HTTP/2 related. Firefox's partner is terminated with ATS 8.0.2, so this is most likely an interaction with Traffic Server, but debugging help is still needed.]

I recently upgraded from Mediawiki 1.31 to 1.35 on Debian 10. Since this upgrade, attempts to log in with Firefox are impossible -- Safari and Chrome work fine. Firefox 96.0 displays the attached error "Secure Connection Failed" but no security error is provided. This seems to be a defect in Firefox, but I am having difficulty diagnosing further.

Looking at both server trace logs as well as the Firefox debugging tools, I see Firefox does an expected POST request to the login page:

 POST https://newwiki.convivian.com/mediawiki/index.php?title=Special:UserLogin&returnto=Main Page

The MediaWiki server replies with a 302 Found and redirect to the Main Page on successful login, but Firefox considers this response insecure on some way that is not indicated. The "Security" tab in DevTools shows no security errors on the transaction.

I am able to reproduce this on multiple machines running Firefox 96.0, as well as with Troubleshooting Mode enabled. No errors occur with other tested browsers.

Is there a way to extract further debugging information from the browser?

We are using a Citrix server and have Firefox installed for browsing (normal auto-updated version, not ESR). Some user experience a problem with a normal Google search or a search in Google Maps. It can also be reproduced by executing multiple searches in Google Search/Maps in a row. After 5-6 attempts, the response is hanging for around 3 minutes before it continues. I've added a console export in the troubleshooting information.

It seems that the issue is not appearing when activating the troubleshooting mode. But there are no add-ons (extensions and themes) activated (expect the 2 default plugins) and turning off hardware acceleration doesn't help too. It seems to be related with another setting which is disabled in the troubleshooting mode.

We have also deleted/recreated the Firefox profile and the complete Windows userprofile.

Have someone an idea what we can test/try to identify/solve this issue?

Anyone know why I can't upload a simple small JPEG image to a Mozilla Support forum post?

I click the "Browse..." button under "Add images (optional)" under the box where the post is typed, select the file and click the "Upload" button and it just sits there saying "Uploading Image.jpg" but the image never uploads or attaches to my post.

I have tried from both Firefox (version 96.0) and Safari (version 15.2), but I have the same problem. I can't find any info about accepted file formats and sizes for these forums, but the image is only 478KB, and is a JPEG, so I can't imagine it's too big or an unaccepted format...

I am on macOS version 11.6.2. The image file is NOT locked.

Any info or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

My Firefox updated to 96.0 yesterday. Since then it freezes frequently apparently checking for updates; no pages load during the freeze. After some time it decides it is up to date and Firefox starts working again, only to start checking for updates again after a few minutes and freezing again. A second installation on a laptop (also Windows 10) is behaving exactly the same. How do I resolve this? Thank you.
