A recent Windows update on my Dell laptop resulted in an unusable copy of Windows(thanks Microsoft). After much time and effort, Microsoft's only solution was to do a fresh install of Windows which we did. Of course all software and apps had to be reinstalled. I have used Thunderbird on this laptop for years successfully. I downloaded the most current verision of Thunderbird and installed it. I then attempted to add my email account. I entered my name, email account name, and password. Message came back, "Configuration found in Mozilla ISP database." Configuration shows Incoming: IMAP, SSL/TLS. Outgoing: SMTP, SSL/TLS. I then clicked on the "Done" box. Next an Xfinity window opens with my username. The next box says "Let's go". I clicked that box. A window pops open that says, "ACCESS DENIED, You don't have access "http://login.xfinity.com/login" on this server. I googled that line and found many responses. I tried many of the solutions shown to no avail. I then contacted Comcast/Xfinity. After hours on the phone and finally reaching Comcast Assurance Level 2, the agent and I tried various things and still to no avail. So, here I am. Anyone there have any ideas on how to proceed. Thanks to anyone who tries.

When I opened Thunderbird today, I was greeted by a giant red message warning, "This is an unsupported version of Thunderbird!! Thunderbird monthly releases are not considered stable for general use." By following a provided link to the "latest stable version of Thunderbird," I found that was version 128.3.0esr.

I did not request an update. I did have Settings> General> Updates set to "Automatically install updates", so I suppose that is how I got this version. But how was I pushed to an unsupported version? Do I need to turn off automatic installs to be protected from this in the future?

Hi! When I start browser it took a long time in search engine to find a result. And sometimes not find anything at all. It simply stops searching and the page seems to freeze. Furthermore, in the settings it says that "Your browser is being managed by your organization" and I don't know what that means or which organization it is. There is some document on the link and that's it.

I am testing a private POP3 mail server, so I set up an account in Thunderbird for it. I set it to check for email every minute.

I have since shut the server down, but Thunderbird is giving me no warning that it is unable to fetch new messages for the account, which I find surprising.

What is the expected behaviour?

Implementation of current Profile after T-Bird 128 Upgrade

I've been on Thunderbird for almost 20 years and a Mozilla fan. Have evolved a fairly elaborate configuration of local (POP) email folders, rules, calendar, and accounts to manage & organize email activity, retention, archiving, etc. I've not had to deal with Profiles in previous upgrades and don't have much experience with it.

The recent Oct 1 push of Firefox & Thunderbird 131.0 releases took me by surprise. I was able to re-implement the previous Firefox profile to recover bookmarks, cookies, passwords, etc. However, when T-Bird warned that 131.0 was Beta & unsupported I took the suggestion to download & install the current supported release: 128.3.0 (I was on 128.2.3). Then hell came.

Once downloaded, installed & launched, Thunderbird 128.3 cautioned the new profile created with T-Bird 131.0 was incompatible with previous versions and that I should create a new one, which I did. Still could not get new T-Bird to recognize previous profile, so I tried uninstalling, downloading & reinstalling 128.3 multiple times, each time prompted to create a new profile before proceeding. I tried to follow the previous profile restoration process detailed on support forums & articles, but none seemed specifically relevant to my situation.

I located my profiles in the appdata roaming profile folder, including what I think are most recent based on size of mail folders. Can't determine whether I had just one or several in use due to the extent of my setup. Could really use some help & advice to: 1) Determine which profile was in most recent use prior to T-Bird upgrade. 2) Whether more than one profile was in use. 3) Re-implement the profile I was using on T-Bird 128.2.3 with my new 128.3.0

Regards & many thanks in advance, John C Houston

PS You'll ask why I would upgrade to 131.0 from 128.2.3. Answer: it was on auto-update and 131.0 is what was pushed. No more auto-updates for this guy!

Why is Thunderbird on Windows so agonizingly slow and unresponsive after recent updates? I've checked my memory, CPU, disk usage, network, everything. I've rebooted. I've tried it on multiple networks. Same thing - agonizingly slow and unresponsive. I've been using Thunderbird for over 22 years, and it's always been wonderful. Now, it SUCKS! What happened? Does anyone know of a better email client for Windows? I've contributed to T-Bird several times, but I can't support these latest updates. It's barely usable now. Help!

I have been running Thunderbird for almost seven years now, and these behaviors have persisted since day one on my laptop and desktop computer. First, I have five accounts set up. I am running two add-ons (Provider for Google Calendar, and Quicktext). I am currently running a snap version 115.12.2 of Thunderbird on both machines and they both are running Ubuntu 22.04 LTS. Plenty of RAM and plenty of free disk space.

Here are the two issues...

1. More often than not, when an email comes into one of the inboxes and I am viewing the unified inbox there are two copies of the same email. If I switch back to the actual inbox of the account it only shows the one. This is very aggravating and when you start trying the delete emails from the unified inbox it gets all hosed up and I end up having to go to each individual mailbox to delete the messages.

2. This somewhat relates to issue one... Sometimes when an email is deleted from the unified inbox, a blank record remains like in the image. This shows only one but sometimes there are multiple ones. Of course, if I go to that message's inbox it is not there.

I have tried all the common things like deleting the index files to let the indexes rebuild, comparing folders etc., and again, this has been a persistent problem since day one. Any insight or solution would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you! Mike

I'm having trouble breaking down the specific behavior of fingerprinting protection for the 3 settings levels.

According to the Windows release notes dated 1 October 2023, "Additionally, you can choose whether to block Suspected Fingerprinters in all windows or just in private windows", but also, "To disable Fingerprinting Protection and return to the default settings, simply select "Standard" or "Strict"

In my reading, these two statements conflict. I'm under the impression that "known fingerprinter" blocking is always active, even on standard. Does enabling "Strict" enhanced protection also enable "suspected fingerprinter" blocking, and if so, is it active on all windows or only in private browsing? Does that mean we need to use the "Custom" setting to enable suspected fingerprinting blocking in all windows?

My question is the same for Firefox for Android 131.0, except in the mobile app's case, the release notes contain even less detail - so I could also be off-base there. TBH I am probably missing something obvious, so if anybody can even point me in the right direction I'd be grateful!

Thanks for any insight anybody can provide!

Four months ago, I tried to change a POP3 account to an IMAP account. That didn't work, but when I returned the settings to their POP3 configurations, I stopped being able to get email from that account on Thunderbird. I would see, in the wee progress bar at the bottom, the confirmation that Thunderbird was reaching out to Comcast, which said [username@]comcast.net: Host contacted, sending login information. It would sit in that condition for a few minutes and then send the error message "Login to account "[username@comcast.net" failed. Login to server mail.comcast.net with username [username@comcast.net] failed. That error message offers me the options to enter a new password (which I tried once, but it made no difference at all), to cancel, or to retry. Retry gets exactly the same response, and cancel closes the error message until Thunderbird tries to go fetch mail again.

I had assumed that I'd made a hash of the IMAP/POP3 configurations, and sucked it up, using Comcast's far inferior webmail system. My other two Comcast accounts worked perfectly, connecting to Comcast's mail servers and downloading my emails. Until yesterday. Now, even though I've changed nothing at all, I am suddenly getting the login failed error message for all three of my Comcast accounts. All three accounts are accessible through the webmail.

I would LOVE some advise on how to persuade Thunderbird to resume talking with Comcast.

Email is vulnerable to spammers. I've noticed that the emails associated with most of my social accounts have been leaked to spammers even though I never publish my addresses.

So I use the Filter mechanism of Thunderbird.

But I can't find how to "bounce" an incoming email, meaning to treat it as though the RECIPIENT account on my server does not exist.

Does anyone know how to get the Filter to bounce incoming email in this way? I think it would be more effective in cutting down spamming than just ignoring the incoming email.

I have allowed access to third party apps on my Comcast account and I am able to access my email on the Comcast website with no problem. I saw something about disabling IPV6 but it said to go to Preferences or Options in the Settings menu. My version of Thunderbird (latest) doesn't have these menu options. I have tried various IMAP and SMTP Port settings I found on the internet and nothing works.

What are the settings for Comcast email in Thunderbird?

Since Mozilla Firefox web browser v127.0 (released June 11 2024) the manual installation of the Adobe Acrobat Pro extension (the adobe_acrobat-1.0-windows.xpi file) do not work anymore!

So, when you go in any higher version of Mozilla Firefox web browser then v126.0.1 (released May 28, 2024) to this web browser Menu Bar -> Tools -> Add-ons and Themes -> Extensions -> Install Add-on From File..., and then try to manually import-install the Adobe Acrobat Pro extension (the adobe_acrobat-1.0-windows.xpi file) into the Mozilla Firefox web browser, and from this HDD location:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat DC\Acrobat\Browser\WCFirefoxExtn\WebExtn\signed_extn\adobe_acrobat-1.0-windows.xpi

The Mozilla Firefox web browser will say during this .xpi file installation: "This add on could not be installed because it appears to be corrupt"!

However, in any Mozilla Firefox web browser version prior v127.0 (released June 11 2024), this manual import-installation of the adobe_acrobat-1.0-windows.xpi file will be most successfully installed in a Mozilla Firefox web browser without any problem!

I also create the most detailed and step-by-step post on the Mozillazine.org Forum and the Adobe Forum about all of this problem:

So, please help and advice further. Thank you in advance and best regards!

I have noticed that when I receive emails that some of them are automatically tagged as NonJunk. Almost as if the sender did something to tag them before I receive them. Is that even possible?

I am assuming/hoping that this is not related to messages being 'marked' "As Not Junk", is that correct?

What, in Thunderbird, would auto-tag some (but not all) messages as NonJunk? Can I turn it off?

When I use Google Meet, after 2-3 meetings, I can't join another one unless I restart Firefox completely. This has happened frequently.

Just now, I couldn't have my laptop unlock with facial recognition because the camera was "in use". There was no other use of the camera, than Google Meet run in Firefox.

I'd like some support for being able to fix this myself without restarting the browser, or, to submit this as a bug to get fixed in the software.
