Thunderbird is often asking again to log into Gmail and Outlook accounts.

A few days ago the accounts I have were "disconnected" and a few days later, randomly some accounts ask me again to log in and allow access to email.

I have about 20 emails managed with Thunderbird and after a few versions (about 3-4 months) this problem started to happen.

Has anyone else reported something similar?

An observation is that I use MozBackup to make complete backups of emails (including login and password) and restore them after formatting the computer.

Not sure of the topic. When I type in a website that I have typed before, its fine. But, if I search something new, anything, the tab trembles and does not search. I quit and restarted. Updated today to the latest. Still the same. I am writing this from Chrome because Firefox won't even respond to searching for firefox. The trembling is seen in the new tab and nothing happens.

Reset PW Not Functioning

I had to change my PW for my Apple email account. When I open Thunderbird v115.8.0 it prompts me to enter the new PW. I do so and Thunderbird just goes into a loop — Wrong PW, Enter New PW, Wrong PW, Enter New PW, etc.

Then I remove the email account from Thunderbird and attempt to add it new. I fill out "Setup Your Existing Email Address". Thunderbird then gives me the green dialog, "Configuration found in Mozilla ISP database". I click "Done" and then, "Unable to login at server. Prob wrong config, username, pw".

The username and pw are correct. I can add the account just fine on Apple's email client.

It seems to me Thunderbird is still "remembering" the old PW and trying to login with it. I did go to Preferences:Passwords to make sure the account and its PW wasn't listed there.

A few months ago I noted the exact same behavior with an Outlook account. I finally gave up on trying to use Thunderbird to access that account and am using the Apple email client for it.

I much prefer Thunderbird and send my little donation every year, so I hope there is a solution other than completely uninstalling Thunderbird and reinstalling.

Any thoughts?

Hello world! (Sorry; had to.)

I just started using Firefox for Android, as a workaround to the problems I'm having with playing my YouTube playlists.

But, I'm having several problems in Firefox for Android.

1. Playlists (the actual lists of videos) cover the video that's currently playing. My workaround to this is to play in full screen mode, but that brings up problem

2. Full screen videos automatically switch to landscape orientation, despite system settings, with no apparent way to switch back to portrait orientation without also exiting full screen mode. I've tried rotating my phone with auto rotate on/off; neither setting has any affect on the orientation.

What's extremely frustrating about this is that any workaround is actually a workaround to a workaround to a workaround; it's workaroundception.

What I really really want is to be able to simply play my playlist/listen to it without having to jump through hoops and without having to burn through data like a bonfire burns through sticks.

IMO, the best solution would be to download the entire playlist:

...in one go, and stick it on an mp3 player like it's 2009. So far, the only YouTube to mp3 sites I've found only download individual videos; not whole playlists. (And that's not really a Mozilla issue anyway; the Mozilla issues are the unwanted rotation and the video stack covering up the currently playing video.)

The last several weeks, almost every time I close Firefox, I get the Crash report dialog box. I have cleared cache and cookies. I also cleared the offline website data and deleted the parent.lock file. These may work for a bit, but eventually the same day. So far today, it has happened 5 times. I do submit the report(s). It's not really a hassle, just having to click a button, but it just drives me crazy that it is being generated even though Firefox did not crash and I am just closing it after I am done. Anyone else encounter this? Any suggestions? Thanks

As I understand, `autoconfig.js` (with `firefox.cfg`) can be used to have JavaScript run during startup to control Firefox's UI elements.

I have set up `autoconfig.js` in my `/usr/lib/firefox-developer-edition/defaults/pref` folder (I'm on EndeavourOS Linux). As instructed here, I've already put the two required files, `autoconfig.js` and `firefox.cfg` in their correct folders (`/usr/lib/firefox-developer-edition/defaults/pref` and `/usr/lib/firefox-developer-edition` in my machine).

The file `firefox.cfg` contains the following code:

However, every time I run Firefox, this message will appear:

 "Failed to read the configuration file. Please contact your system administrator."


If I empty out the `firefox.cfg` file, Firefox will run normally without showing the error message. It will also run normally if I just have something like this in the file:

 })();


I don't understand why the JavaScript code can't access the Firefox UI elements through `document` or `window.document`. If `autoconfig.js` isn't build for that, what should I use to change my browser's UI elements through JavaScript?

Many months ago, I created another context for the file explorer drop down to “Send To” Thunderbird, vs the Windows mail client.

Recently, this function stopped working, meaning TB does not open a new message and of course nothing is “attached”.

I detected the addition to the context drop down and then added it (again).

No luck.

My Thunderbird Version = 115.8.0

When I click on a file and open the File Explorer Send To drop down, Windows “shows Thunderbird in the context (my addition) but as noted I don’t have a new message with the file attached.

Correct I’m not using the Mail Client.

Yes, in APPS, Thunderbird is listed as the email client.

Thoughts?

I just received an email from Mozilla / Firefox to Upgrade if I’m using an older version of 78. I just checked & I’m currently using F/Fox 78.15 OSER that was installed on Oct. 06, 2021. My question is what I have now 78.15 will that be ok to continue using? I have an older MacBook & wonder if I can get the newer version if it’s compatible with my computer. When doing a search directly from searchlight options, firefox uses google search instead of the duck duck go default.

All other searches from within firefox uses the default correctly.

Hi, I'm hoping someone can help me figure out why Firefox continues to crash on my M-series Mac, when visiting certain websites. I am getting an error, no blob image template [ EXC_BAD_ACCESS / KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS ], on each crash. I've looked this error up, to little avail. Can someone please help diagnose some of these? Hi! I'm about to get a new computer and I need to understand the best way to move Thunderbird with all my emails to the new computer.

Should I just install Thunderbird in the new computer and then add my e-mail accounts from scratch? Or is it better to find this profile folder, copy and paste it to the profile folder on the new computer? Which way is best? I run mac OS 12.7.3 on the old computer and will update to a new Mac Book Pro computer with the lates OS. The Thunderbird-version is now 115.8.0 in the old computer.

I have a bunch of content in my Local Folders: Junk mailbox but none of it is showing up in Thunderbird. The Properties for the folder shows "Number of messages: 0", "Size on disk: 3.4 MB". I've tried the "Repair Folder" button but it makes no difference. The folder views as empty in Thunderbird.

Not sure when this started happening because I don't recall having this problem in the past. The folder permissions are the same as all the other mailboxes:

ls -l Junk* -rwx------@ 1 uid staff 3578520 23 Feb 08:51 Junk* -rw-r--r--@ 1 uid staff 3289 24 Feb 12:39 Junk.msf

I'm a new Thunderbird user with v115.7.0 on Windows 11, using a mailbox.org account.

Under Account Settings/Copies and Folders/Message Archives/Keep message archives in: I am using the Other setting to point to Local Folders/mailbox.org Archive. Under Archive Options I am using Single Folder and "Keep existing folder structure of archived messages". The example in the options window shows an Archives folder with an Inbox subfolder. However, this doesn't happen.

Messages archived from my Inbox go to Local Folders/mailbox.org Archive/ Messages archived from Inbox/Subfolder go to Local Folders/mailbox.org Archive/Subfolder Messages archived from my Sent items go to Local Folders/mailbox.org Archive/Sent

So of the above, only Sent items go to the correct folder. For anything from the Inbox, the Inbox folder itself is not replicated as per the example on the options page. Can this be corrected?

A week or so ago I patched Thunderbird (115.8.0 (64-bit)). Everything seemed fine and I proceeded to empty the TRASH. It took an unusually long time to delete the roughly 175 messages in the TRASH. Then the screen "blinked" and when Thunderbird reappeared the SENT fold, while present, showed that it contained NO emails. I have sent about 50 emails since this occurred and the counter on the SENT folder continues to show the the folder contains no emails.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can get things to work again?
