Video doesn't work on certain sites like CNN, Crackle, ESPN, CBS, and others. It still works on YT.

On CNN there's just a white space where the headline video normally is, and there's just a black space in the videos section. In Crackle there's just a black space when I click to watch a video. On CBS the little eye logo keeps processing over white space and doesn't load. One curious thing I noted is that the login and help buttons don't respond on CNN, even though I can navigate within the site

Hello SightSeer!! First, make sure you have adobe flash player installed and updated. You can download the latest version here: http://get.adobe.com/es/flashplayer/. We also recommend updating Mozilla Firefox to the latest version available. After doing this, you shouldn't have any problem.

Hello, and thanks!

I have the latest flashplayer installed 12.0.0.70, and I have Firefox set to update automatically, so as far as I know I have the latest - 27.0.1. I think there used to be a check for updates under Tools or Help but I don't see it there now. Is this the latest version, and if not how do I update it?

Otherwise, I'm up to date on your suggestions.

To check for the latest version you must click on the Firefox button, you click on Help and then "About Firefox" and as informative about the version you're using. If still not working, make sure flash is enabled and that you have no other plugin interfering, so I suggest you try to disable all the flash and leave me alone. I hope you serve help!

Hello,

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache. Note: This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to. To clear cache and cookies do the following:

  1. Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
  2. Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
  3. Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
  4. From the details list, check Cache and Cookies and uncheck everything else.
  5. Now click the Clear now button.

Further information can be found in the Clear your cache, history and other personal information in Firefox article.

Otherwise, you can reinstall Mozilla Firefox here: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/

Thanks again for your suggestions, h.qriobo! Some of them I already tried like disabling the plug-ins and clearing the cache. At your suggestion I cleared the cookies too, but that didn't work either. But disabling the plug-ins should have worked, I think, because guess what?

The NoScript plug in just updated when I opened the browser and voila! EVERYTHING WORKS AGAIN!

Thanks again for your kind suggestions! I will leave you alone now! :)

If you use extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) that can block content (e.g. Adblock Plus, NoScript, Flash Block, Ghostery) then make sure that such extensions aren't blocking content.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.

I've done all that above, boring, even reinstalled. No worky. What is interesting is I found a fix in IE because that was broken too, In the security tab you change the Userdata persistance to disable. So if that worked for IE11 then what is the fix for FireFox 28? I have Win7 Pro 64 . I would also like to mention that if I install an older version of Flash like 10.x the video on CNN works just fine. So. go figure this out?????? Current flash is 13.x Spybot does not have any problems with Flash 10.x. Anybody know whats going on here?

Installing an updated Java did not help.
