We use FF so we DON"T have to use Google Chome, WHY THE HELL ARE YOU COPING THEM??
New Tab is either the FF page or Blank? Just Like Goggle Chrome?? REALLY!!!???
If you plan to be "Chrome" by a different name, then why don't we all just move TO Chrome?
TRY not to be STUPID, Please.

This is help user forum so one needs to first understand that. Everyone copies another layout that is in no part they use the Chrome programming. So unless you can point to specific lines of codes this is just hearsay.

First and foremost: Apparently the does not seem to be ANY WAY to contact the FIreFox Developers if you have suggestion/complaints/feedback, So I submitted it HERE.
Code? Hearsay? What are you talking about?? I don't care about "UNDERLYING CODE" I DO NOT CARE if they did or did not use code from anywhere! So I have no idea what you're referring to as "Hearsay" I am talking about the end product, The Interface of Firefox itself...
Firefox DECIDED that, instead of allowing user to pick a webpage for their "new Tab" LIKE THEY USED TO, NOW they copied what Chrome is doing, instead of of doing their own thing. (I DO NOT CARE WHAT CODE they used to get there.) Now "Coincidentally" It's either BLANK or your own 'Home' Page EXACTLY like Google.
Just like the "Confirm Quit" (Default on) ... Gee, I wonder where they got that Idea.... BTW Apple Safari didn't copy this little annoyance.
Now if this is beyond your area of"help" Please pass this along to the FireFox planners and developers
This isn't the place to submit as this is a help user forum not a devs ticket request but to help other users of Firefox browser.

You can customize the toolbars and put the Home icon on toolbar if it is not already there. Make sure you have a custom url for the Homepage as you can then open a new tab with homepage when you middle-click on the Home icon on the toolbar.
Customizing the New Tab Page
You have a long memory. This was changed in Firefox 41, released September 22, 2015, because the old browser.newtab.url preference was constantly attacked by malware. Now you need an add-on to prescribe your own new tab page URL. For example: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/new-tab-override/
Product Change Suggestions
Mozilla has a product suggestion site at https://connect.mozilla.org/ (or from within the browser, Help > Share ideas and feedback). Use the "Ideas" section of the site (at https://connect.mozilla.org/t5/ideas/idb-p/ideas) to search for existing proposals to vote up, or to submit new ones.
My comment was less a 'proposal' and more of a general complaint..... sparked by fear you guys want to turn FireFox into Chrome....
Per your comment: "browser.newtab.url preference was constantly attacked by malware" why doesn't than happen to the home page setting?
I'm been using FireFox since it transitioned from the Netscape days. I am not a developer, but I do help manage a fleet of 1200 Macintosh computers side by side with 2000 Windows boxes. Over they years I have commenting of development choices ( Like putting a new bookmarks in the 'Other Bookmarks' folder) but overall I prefer it to Safari and Google Chrome...
I'll bookmark the "connect.mozilla. org" for suggestion, but I'll still want to submit general observations on the direction FF is going.
