I'm unable to delete messages. When I start TB, I can only delete one email message. After that one delete, the next request is ignored. For a long time I've been unable to delete obsolete folders but I've just lived with that annoyance. Looking for good solid sound advice. There's a plethora of search results (solutions) that don't work. Thanks for helping me.

Try to rebuild the index file of the troubled folder.

Right-click the folder - Properties - Repair Folder

Before doing that it is recommended to create a full backup of your Thunderbird profile. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-where-thunderbird-stores-user-data#w_backing-up-a-profile
