Some bubble-headed bimbo wiped out the columns inside folders, and deleted the headers - which deleted Thunderbird's ability to choose sorting by date or contact. This f'd it up so BADLY, that I find it USELESS now. I'm going to have to find some other email program.

A 2nd way it was f'd up, is it now seems incapable of importing an existing archive of emails. I tried to do that, and it WIPED OUT the entire archive of "local folders", to create a brand new Local Folder lacking any contents at all. The old stash was DELETED. In the past, I've been able to use this feature of Local Folders, to use the same archive of email between several different OS installations of Thunderbird. Those glory days are gone, thanks to some genius. It seems to have lost the ability to do that.

Really, all this makes me sorry I contributed to Thunderbird, this year. What a waste.

I didn't select to be emailed when somebody answers, because without the sorting I won't be able to notice it happened.

I've been trying to find a way of synchronising Thunderbird data, principally addressbooks, messages and calendar data, between several PCs. I've tried to do this with a file synchronisation program called Allway Sync but it's become clear it's not just a case of copying changed data between the profiles of the different systems.

It seems the only way to do it is by exporting the profile data to a zip file then importing it to the other systems. That would be a rather clunky solution but I could live with it. However the size of the profile folder on my main workstation is now around 5GB so that doesn't appear to be possible.

I should be extremely grateful for any suggestions on how to accomplish the synchronisation if it is at all possible.

My main workstation is running Windows 7 Professional SP1. The others are running Windows 10 Home and Windows 10 Professional

thunderbird will not delete messages in one of my 2 accounts. when i click delete they just keep re-appearing in my in box. I have deleted the TRASH.msf but issue persists: WHY? I also cannot move messages to another folder, but again, only in one of the two accounts that I have. This just started on 6/17, perhas a bad update? How do I fix this as my in box is filling quickly

I Shift/Deleted an email in my UNREAD search folder, & all emails in the folder disappeared, as well as the same unread emails in my Inbox. This happened twice in the last few months, with two different accounts (personal and business), both times on the UNREAD search folder. The emails are still in the profile - i opened the profile in Notepad and searched for them. I've given up on trying to get them back into the Inbox (spent several hours with aid from AI), but would like to continue to use Shift/Delete withut this happening. Thanks. Geoff

I am trying to set up my t-online.de account on Thunderbird, so far without success. A message appears: Thunderbird failed to find the settings for your email account. I don't know where I am going wrong.

None of your "topics" addresses my issue at all. Where is your user manual? I'm trying to figure out how your "retention" works. Also how to get a message filter to run on a specific folder daily.

Thunderbird 140.7.1 i have a subfolder called "purchases" which I add to on a regular basis. Suddenly no messages appear after May 2014 I have logged in directly to the mail server, and all the missing messages are definitely on the server. I have checked the local filters, none are set. I have tried properties/repair. I have tried removing ~/.thunderbird/xxx/ImapMail/mail.myserver.com.au/INBOX.sbd/purchases.msf

Could it be a problem with dovecot indexing on the server? all the other subfolders seem to work fine. It's just this one.

I recently updated windows and since then I have not been able to login to my emails and or recover contacts or calendar on thunderbird. I am able to login to my primary email but I have no contacts and am not able to login to my other 2 email accounts.

I use apple mail on my phone and Thunderbird on my PC and my (IMAP) email provider is GMX. I recently added a couple of sub-folders to an existing folder and changed the names of couple of others (in the same main folder). I did those changes on my phone. However, those changes are not reflected on my PC. The folders with changed names are in the folder list but greyed out but the new folders are missing. If I click on a greyed out folder it is empty. I've tried several ways to force the list to update but, so far have been unsuccessful.

What is causing my problem and how can I fix it?

Any new e-mail folders that I add to Local Folders are no longer in alphabetical order. Please help. I would like to put them all in alphabetical order. Thunderbird version 140.11esr

TB 68.9.0 (64-bit). I'm using this version because I'm used to it.

Scenario:

• I am viewing the message list, eg the inbox
• I click a message
• The message is highlighted in grey with a thin blue outline. However it does not have focus: for example when I hit delete on the keyboard nothing happens
• When I click the message again (after a delay, so it's not a double-click) the message is highlighted in blue and I can now delete it from the keyboard
• When I delete it, grey highlighting (but again not proper focus) moves to the next email. If I want to delete that from the keyboard, I have to click it to make it blue.

Desired behaviour (this always used to happen):

• I click a message once
• It's highlighted in blue
• When I hit delete on the keyboard, it is deleted and focus (blue highlighting) moves to the next message so I can delete that from the keyboard immediately.

I've tried rebuilding the folder, to no avail. The config mail.delete_matches_sort_order is set to false, which is what I want (emails viewed from newest to oldest; when I delete one I want focus to move to the next one down, i.e. the next oldest one). As I say, the desired behaviour always used to happen and I don't know what's changed.

I rescue dogs, puppies, then I do the best I can to find the best homes and families that I can for them . I use Craigslist where the don't want you to give them away for free . You are allowed to ask for a small rehoming fee . Some of these people ask for $500 dollars or more . That's not a "small rehoming fee in my world ". I say "if" they can reimburse me for the puppy's shots I'd appreciate it , but that is all . I don't believe you have to have a lot of money to care for a dog .Well my philosophy has been getting my adds flagged and taken down almost as soon as they go up . Which means my puppies don't get adopted when they are the most adoptable . I have reviewed their rules a number of times and I don't believe I violate them .I've changed the wording of my add to closely match other ads on the site but still I get flagged by other users and taken down. I am begging to believe it's from puppy dealers/sellers trying to make a buck and my puppies are cheaper .I don't want money for them I want homes , good homes .So I need a new email so they won't flag me .I suppose I might have to change it relatively often.....is this possible ?

Today I created a subfolder and moved many precious e-mails there. That move was successful. Thereupon I shut down my Thunderbird and my computer. When I restarted my computer and my Thunderbird the folder which I created was empty. Please let me know how I can recover the e-mails. Thank you.

I'm reading the question Thread's broken sorting makes it completely unusable and I have to agree that order of messages within thread is not the best one - ascending. For example, I am subscribed to a forum messages and I'm getting all the notifications for a topic to a thread. Currently I have like 85 messages in a thread and to see the newest one I have to scroll all the way down each time - scrolling 85 messages is a lot and it is getting worse because the number of messages keeps growing. After I've seen the newest message, I have to scroll all the way up to close the thread. (or am I missing something - perhaps some shortcuts?)

But I guess for some such ordering is obviously fine. Hence, I guess, an option how to sort threads might come handy. Perhaps even having a default sort order and an override per thread?

PS. funnily enough, I'll have the same issue with notifications for this question :)

have 2 filters. want to run 1 on inbox and on spam on the other filter. Cannot enter different folders. When I change one of the filters in the run filter on they other filter changes the value in the run filter on to what I put in the previous filter. How can I have 2 different folders in 2 different filters
