Hello!

Since at least one update, and maybe two, I have been having the following experience:

For context: I do remote work via Zoom and Teams. I am using an iMac running Sonoma 14.1. I use a magic keyboard and magic mouse. I bought the computer in March of 2023.

1. Open Firefox and use it for a while. All is well.

2. Out of nowhere, with no sequence or pattern I have been able to discern so far, Firefox stops responding to left button mouse clicks. Right ones still work.

3. Quit Firefox and re-open.

4. It responds to left button clicks again.

I don't usually have to do this more than once per day, although I had had days during which I had to do it two or three times.

This does not occur in Safari or Chrome.

Thoughts? X-sH

Start Firefox in Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration or if userChrome.css/userContent.css is causing the problem.

  • switch to the Default System theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Themes
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Troubleshoot Mode start window

I will give that a shot when I am done seeing patients for the day. I don't quite understand all of the terms you mentioned, but should be able to walk through the steps you outlined. I note the "do NOT click the "refresh Firefox" button—thank you for the warning! Because, honestly? I am definitely a "what happens if I press this huge red button that says 'DO NOT PRESS' on it" kind of person, at least some of the time. So, a warning is always a good idea!

Thanks for your speedy reply! Wow!
