Why does Firefox keep deleting my saved passwords?
For the second time in the last two weeks, Firefox has deleted all my saved passwords when the program has updated. This happens frequently and is REALLY ANNOYING. How do I stop it? I am now going to restore the files from back up, about half an hour wasted.
Thanks and look forward to hearing back from someone.

bold text Firefox has been deleting my saved passwords as well - at least two or three times a week and I have to go to each website and re enter them again. Thankfully I save them on a list in my phone as a backup in case. This AM Firefox not only deleted the passwords but it also logged me out of the Firefox Profile as well. I had to get a passcode from Mozilla to log back in - still all passwords have been wiped.
This has been going on for six months or more and is really annoying.
Are you using a password manager other than what came with the browser?
What about the rest of your profile? Settings,
bookmarks, history, passwords . . . .
Sometimes when the browser thinks there is a problem with the profile, it will create a new one.
Look on your desktop. Do you see a folder
called; Old Firefox? Look inside.
Look for the folder with the latest creation date.

Type about:profiles<enter> in the address box.
How many profiles are listed?
How many should be there?
Also, open the profile folder in your file explorer.
In the event that the passwords information is lost, you should record all information in a separate text file somewhere else on your hard drive, or written down. You can easily copy and paste if you need to do so. If you are concerned about someone else looking at that file, you can compress it using a password.
Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles {web link} I use a Legacy add-on that makes backups of my user profile, Just In Case. Unfortunately, it is not compatible with the current Firefox.
Every now and then, open the profile folder and create a copy of the current profile as is to another location on your hard drive. This way you will have a backup.
If you do this each day, you will not lose much data. This should be done with Firefox Closed.
Note: In case you need to restore from these backups, you may need to overwrite old or corrupted files.
