SICK AND TIRED of having to turn off my wifi when all these random connections start making my cpu go crazy. I don't care if I EVER see another unwanted ad so I blocked all those sites permanently from cookies. Anybody see a problem with that? Not sure if it will prevent random multiple connections from opening but we'll see.

Blocking sites from setting cookies usually doesn't affect how they operate, just whether they can remember you from visit to visit. You might get more generic, slightly less personalized ads. To block ads, you need to use an ad blocking extension. These are popular (Note: you would only want to use one at a time):

Also, your Firefox identified itself to the forum as version 35. An update is available: this article describes how to get Firefox 47.0.1 using the "About Firefox" dialog on the help menu: Update Firefox to the latest release.

If something is holding you back from upgrading to Firefox 47, please let us know so we can suggest solutions or workarounds. Version 35 is not secure; Mozilla discloses security flaws after each new release.

Sometimes Firefox reports the wrong version because that information was saved in a preferences file. If the "About Firefox" dialog (see first article link) shows Firefox 47.0.1, you may need to clear our that incorrect information. See: How to reset the default user agent on Firefox.

Ok thanks. I just don't like all those connections opening to websites I'm not visiting and don't even know what they are. I will try using an ad block but I do already have popup blocker checked. These ad connections and adware seem to be most pervasive when using Earthlink & Juno email. I stopped upgrading Firefox because I got sick of the constant upgrades and each time I had new problems plus each upgrade was using more and more of my resources and getting to the point where using the browser was no longer feasible.
