At the moment it seems to be randomly populated. How do I add the favourites that I actually use and need?

hello, there isn't a fixed way to pin certain sites there - however the dropdown results are not random. they will adapt to a mixture of sites you use most and recently...

Items have higher values if manually typed in. Bookmarking them also increases the value. Or of course you may delete entries. You really don't like it then turn it off, but remember it tends to learn and improve over time.

You may even modify it by typing in a special character followed by a space. Anyone using a lot of open tabs may like to try % that searches open tabs.

Seriously? It's NOT POSSIBLE to choose which favourites appear in the dropbox? I find it staggering to believe this is true! Could anyone at Firefox explain the thinking behind this? Why would NOT having control over this key feature be beneficial for users? I hope this gets fixed soon - or I suppose we could all switch to Explorer instead!

You would have to edit the frecency value with the SQLite Manager extension.

You already have a lot of control over what is displayed.

If you want a fully customised ordered list that would be bookmarks. Bookmarks are souped up favorites. They may be tagged, searched, re-sorted, and placed in nested folders. There are mutiple bookmark display #answer-741512 options including; you've guessed it; setting them to display in the dropdown URL list with or without History &/or open Tabs.

That's a lot of options. The list grows further if you use addons, or consider tab groups or tiles as related features
