i get the message "the bookmarks and history system will not be functional because one of Firefox's files is in use by another application. Some security software can cause this problem" I have tried all the help i can find and gone through Gemini AI recommendations and i am still left with a purple circle with a plus sign in it. Repaired Firefox and no change, removed Firefox and re-installed no change.

And the Fix "The bookmarks and history system will not be functional" error message help page was among the resources consulted?

And your old profile data is still there available in the original profile folder location? (Based on the file sizes and time stamps preceding the subsequent refreshes and removals?) — Basically the "Old Firefox Data" folder created during Refresh will most likely have the original data. It will just need a functioning Firefox to start with, to put the profile data back there.
