According to Mozilla and all other online instructions for changing Firefox wallpaper, one must click on the Settings icon (pinwheel) in the upper right corner of a new tab. There is no such icon anywhere on the new tab screen. There is no wallpaper to select under the Settings menu (three dashes) in the top right hand corner. I have the latest version of Firefox. What version are these instructions for? And how does one change the Firefox wallpaper? Firefox is my default browser in Ubuntu 2204 LTS.

Have you looked in the right corner at the bottom of the New Tab page, click the gear icon.

Thank you. The gear icon is invisible in the lower right corner because of the existing wallpaper, but becomes visible if I move the arrow around in that area.

The instructions in the article are ambiguous in places, at least to speakers of Standard American English.

" If you’re running the latest Firefox (any channel) you can navigate to Firefox Labs and check the box to enable Custom Wallpapers. From there, navigate to a New Tab and click the “gear” icon in the lower right to launch the Customization Panel."

Instructions for doing things online are usually peppered with "you can," without mentioning the menu or icon that is needed to accomplish the thing that we "can" do. In this case, by trial and error I found Firefox Labs. The writer might have mentioned where Firefox Labs is located among the various menus. Since I found it by accident, I'll probably have to stumble around again the next time I need it.

"Navigate to a New Tab?" "Navigate?" Apparently she meant, "open a new tab" Or "open a new tab by clicking on the plus sign." Of course, that is what one always does to open a new tab, but "navigate" suggests that something other than the usual is needed.

But the information needed is there somewhere, so thank you for that.

Importing one's own photo is not possible for the main Firefox window? Only for new tabs?
