All of my extensions went away when Quantum was installed. Should I uninstall? Why did my extensions go away?

I hate Quantum. My tabs look weird. My extensions aren't working. How do I go back to how it was before?

Hi, install ESR from here: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/all/

It says ESR is for large organizations. I'm just an ordinary user. I just want my extensions back, and I don't like that the tab names are faded.

Hello, ESR can be for normal users too! As seen here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/switch-to-firefox-extended-support-release-esr

Actually that page specifically says that ESR is not intended for "normal" users. Could you tell me how I can go back to the prior version before Quantum?

Thank you so much! All of my beloved extensions are restored. I am very happy.

Help! Each time I close and then reopen Firefox, it installs Quantum again. And now when I reinstall 56.02, it goes to Quantum anyway! I just want to go back to pre-Quantum. I hate the faded tabs, and I lost all the extensions I love. What do I do?

I had this problem. The options on the settings page to disable auto update are greyed out and can't be changed.

Do this:

Enter about:config in the address bar Search for app.update Set these parameters (double click on them to change):

app.update.auto to false app.update.enabled to false

Close Firefox and then re-install Version 56.
