browsing is slow, youtube doesn't work.
Hello, for a while now browsing with firefox as been an excruciating process. its very slow, and watching youtube would barely buffer videos at 144p (30 minutes of loading). Chrome works fine. I've tried - deleting cache and cookies switch to safemode reset the browser. none of these worked for me.

I have already tried that, as I've mentioned.
You can check for problems with preferences.
Delete possible user.js and numbered prefs-##.js files and rename (or delete) the prefs.js file to reset all prefs to the default value including prefs set via user.js and prefs that are no longer supported in the current Firefox release.

I could not find said files.
You can use this button to go to the current Firefox profile folder:
- Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)
- C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile>\
Windows hides some file extensions by default. Among them .html and .ini and .js and .txt and you may only see a file name without file extension. You can check the file extension (type) in the properties of the file in Windows Explorer via the right-click context menu.
Yeah, I mean I'm in the folder, with "show hidden files" ticked. I can see no such files.
