When sending a message, the email reaches the recipient but is not saved in the sender’s account. This email is not displayed anywhere — neither in the web version nor in Thunderbird. Please help resolve the issue.

Xfinity email service required me to change my password (security issue?). I went through the process but when I attempted to change my password in TB, it required me to change both the imap and smtp servers separately.

Apparently this is normal for TB. But this is radically different from other email systems. Most allow me to change the password once and it propagates to both the imap and smtp servers.

Am I missing something. If not, why does TB do it this way? This is extremely frustrating and unexpected for many people, I would think.

Oh, this is especially frustrating because I'm in a situation where two of my three Xfinity email accounts are repeatedly requiring a password change. I'm still trying to get to the bottom of that with Comcast.

Thunderbird not connecting to server. It says timds out and an error occurred connecting to mobile.charter.net. I can neither send or receive emails. This started 8/20/2026

The edit tool bar to set bold, text color and text sze under the "+ new message" is missing. How do I fix?

Moved my thunderbird account to my new lap top using %appdata% . All has transferred but it is not letting me put in the passwords for imap and smtp. I checked on the old laptop, and I do have them correct. Any help would be lovely. I can access my gmail account online if I have to.

I can't find my Junk folder on any of my three Thunderbird email accounts. I tried everything from the Thunderbird and Internet search pages but nothing brings up my Junk accounts.

My problem is that all emails to one of my email accounts goes to the Trash folder, Every time now starting this morning, The two other email accounts work properly.

I use Thunderbird (153.2 0esr) on a win 11 PC.

I have some POP email accounts with btinternet which work.

I want to change. them to IMAP accounts using the same email addresses.

Before I do this I have several minor problems within Thunderbird, which I would like to sort out before copying the Thunderbird files as a backup.

Rather than list them all, it's possible that fixing the first may solve others.

When I open Thunderbird I see this message... see FIRSTCalendar if it hasn't been inserted into the text

I have never (knowingly) used BT's calendar. Clicking cancel removes the report and does not stop any of the BT mail accounts working.

I tried using the username and password of the default account but password of the default account without success. At a later stage this appears...

The address displayed is one that I have deleted from my BT Email account.

It is no longer shown as one of my BT accounts in the email management page in MYBT or in Thunderbird

Again, clicking Cancel does not stop my BT email accounts working.

Any suggestions how to fix this, would be welcome.

I use IMAP and I've allowed remote content from particular sources (not all). Sometimes I work in offline mode. When I do, I accept Thunderbird's offer to "download messages for offline use before going offline." This appears to download my IMAP server's messages, but not the (allowed) remote content. As a workaround, I've found that opening each message in my inbox before going offline is sufficient to cache the remote content, but that's tedious. It'd be nice if the "download messages for offline use" would cache the (allowed) remote content when it downloads the messages.

So I think this is a feature request unless I'm doing something wrong. And if this is the wrong place to submit feature requests, please let me know. Thank you!

After changing the password in a browser (Mac), only emails from August 9th repopulate (5 of them from different senders). There were about 25 of each email piled up and that is why I changed the password. I deleted all of them, changed password again a week later; but only those 5 same August 9th emails populate again. When I updated and restarted third after changing yahoo password, it took me to the yahoo webpage asking permission for third to access mail and I agreed. Not sure if there is some setting to change in Tbird?

I have successfully used Thunderbird to receive my Earthlink emails up until today. I check on webmail and see many new emails but they do not download to my Thunderbird application. I've changed nothing. Was there some change at Thunderbird? What to do to fix this?

Was on version 115, had this problem. Updated to version 155, same problem. One of the email accounts I set up on Thunderbird is redacted1@lake48.net, registered with 123-Reg. However, this is a forwarding address and has no email server, which is why I am getting the error now.

Messages addressed to redacted1@lake48.net are forwarded to redacted2@lake48.net, which does have a server, My system was to download from there and use a rule to divert the incoming message to my redacted1@lake48.net Inbox. This has worked OK until now. Thunderbird gives me this error right at the start and then does not respond, so I cannot get in to investigate account settings, and cannot access emails in other accounts such as gmail. 123-Reg has today changed its system, assuring me I don't need to change anything. Clearly I do, but I can't get in to change it.

What should I do to resolve this? I have no other access to my emails.

Aloha. I'm helping a friend with setting up a new Windows 11 PC, and cannot get Thunderbird to connect to Spectrum's servers. I spent an hour on the phone with Spectrum support and they just gave up and said it must be an issue with Thunderbird. Here are the details:

- Brand new Dell 24 All-in-One EC24250 - Windows 11 25H2 plus all additional fixes. - All Dell drivers updated. - Thunderbird V155.0 64-bit

If I click on 'Get Messages' after a while I get: "Connection to server mail.twc.com timed out". I've gone into the config editor and changed mailnews.tcptimeout from 100 to 500 and still get the error.

In the Account Settings | Server Settings | Test server connection I get: An error occurred connecting to mail.twc.com:993.

I've tried this with both setting up a brand new account in Thunderbird, and also via copying the 'Thunderbird' folder from %appdata%\roaming from her old machine.

Email configuration (from Spectrum).

IMAP Settings Server name: mail.twc.com Port: 993 user name: abcd@hawaii.rr.com Connection Security: SSL/TLS Authentication method: Normal password

SMTP settings Server Name: mail.twc.com Port 587 Connection Security: STARTTLS Authentication method: Normal password

Can anyone help me troubleshoot this scenario?

This is probably not a T-bird question, per se, but it is so strange it seems that this might be the best place to start, hoping someone might have some insight.

My wife and I each have our own laptops, running Win-11 Pro. Each laptop has T-bird 153.2.0esr (32-bit). We each have an account to yahoo mail (the site now hosting our Comcast email accounts). No problems since ... forever. Until today.

Now, beginning today, on my wife's laptop, when she opens T-bird, she gets a pop-up logon page, pre-loaded with her userid/email address. No input field for a password, but that it not unusual, as a lot of sites put that on a follow-up. But when we click 'next', it just rejects it. We were able to log into the yahoo mail web page (in Firefox) just fine.

After a lot of head scratching, I added her account to the T-bird configuration on my laptop. First time up, it prompted for credentials, but here it accepted them. So now we have her yahoo/comcast account configured and working just fine on my laptop, but continue to get credentials rejected running the same config on hers. Again, this has been working just fine up until today.

(If you are wondering about the connection between Comcast and Yahoo, several years ago we 'cut the cable' with Comcast, after confirming they would continue to support our email accounts. Then some time ago, they off-loaded that to Yahoo, such that we were able to retain our Comcast email address, but it redirected to and is hosted on Yahoo.)

Inbound emails are going to Trash instead of Inbox.

No changes have been made. How can I check settings to find a solution? I see nothing related to this issue. Thanks for any help.

9.6.2026. Spoke with Spectrum, my carrier, to ensure email protocols were correct. They checked from their end and the problem is with Thunderbird protocols. There is no rhyme or reason to incoming emails. Sometimes they have their content but days have gone by where only the subject line/date/time stamp shows. What is going on???

When in troubleshoot mode it seems to work better but I do not see anything to disable. After I log into this account without thunderbird all the missing emails come over.

Does troubleshoot mode affect just the one account or all my accounts. If just the one I can leave it in that mode permanently unless you think that will cause a problem. This is only been happening recently to the best of my knowledge unless I was unaware of the problem .
