That is a problem with the Windows Registry.
This issue can be a problem with the default browser settings where some registry keys are incorrect or corrupted. You can try to redo the default browser setting and temporarily set another browser as the default browser.
If that doesn't help then try to uninstall and reinstall Firefox. On Windows 10 make sure to set another browser as the default browser before uninstalling Firefox.

No all caps please as net etiquette as you know considers it shouting and rude. Could you compare the date you got updated with Firefox with the date you got updated by Windows. Think are the same date or close enough that it maybe a windows issue. Have you googled the Windows KB # to see if others are having issues after the update ?
Please uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files and C:\Program Files(x86) Then restart system. Then run Windows Disk Cleanup. (Note: This should be Pinned and run Weekly, If never done below expect 10's of gig's) Then run it again and click the button that says Cleanup System Files. Note: your Firefox Profile is saved. But you should make a back up before you do :

Reinstall with Current Release Firefox 57.0.4 with a Full Version Installer
Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.
