Firefox Popup Warned of Possible Nefarious Content/Malware From Unknown Sites To DuckDuckGo. Four choices presented: ALLOW ONCE; ALWAYS BLOCK; BLOCK ONCE; ALWAYS ALLOW. I chose ALWAYS BLOCK. This has apparently blocked/disallowed any DuckDuckGo search, which is stillborn - i.e., ANY DuckDuckGo search via Firefox will dead-end, 'with prejudice,' i.e., no further opportunity to STOP or REFRESH the page/website. Where do I go to fix/reverse this - for example, where is this choice now stored, so that I can change/modify/abort it/restore DuckDuckGo search functionality. I have uninstalled/re-installed the DuckDuckGo add-on with no effect/success/no change in behavior. Thank you.

How do i go about restoring my old firefox data? Firefox suggested restarting the browser and once it opened back up it deleted all my extentions etc. and placed an 'old firefox data' folder on my desktop. I tried finding solutions but nothing worked. I typed in about:profile. Went to default profile. I clicked on Local Directory - Show in folder. And then pasted everything from my old firefox data folder into that. And nothing worked. Any help????

When I attempt to use my TV as a screen and for sound by connecting my Windows 10 laptop through an HDMI cable, the picture comes through fine; when i open facebook or youtube, no sound comes through on the tv and a little sound is heard on the laptop however the system sound control does not work--can't mute it; can't make it louder. I do not have this problem when using Chrome or Edge.

How do i get sound to the TV?

When I try to print articles from the internet I get the following message "An error occured while printing. I have a Brother printer and checking with their tech. dept. and they said the problem was not with them or my computer. The problem was with my browser. They came to that conclusion after they suggested I use another browser. I did that using Microsoft Explorer and the printer did print OK.

Thanks, Dick N.

I have been a Little Snitch user for years. Having seen all the bulls**t that apps and website try to connect to behind the scenes I couldnt possibly live without it.

Since the most recent update Firefox has broken how Snitch should, and used to, work. Instead of alerts displaying said website trying to connect to said web server/service, I get only an IP address. This requires a click on the more info button to see what the reverse IP look up is. Occasionally this is blank. Either way its a cumbersome way to browse the web. Especially when it used to work, and continues to work in other browsers.

Anyone else get this behaviour? Anyone have an idea how to fix/reverse it?

Cheers Adam

How do I safely delete synced Add-Ons without syncing to new profile?

I recently newly configured a laptop and while doing so, installed an updated version of FF (v 79).

I realized that some of my old Add-ons from my backed up FF profile (last used with FF v. 68) were interfering with the new FF installation, so by toggling off sync of Add-ons using about:config (see https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/about-config-editor-firefox ), I was able to open the newly installed FF and successfully use it with my backed up profile without introducing the older synced Add-ons.

The problem: So currently, in my newly restored, working FF profile, I have Add-Ons unchecked in syncing, to ensure that the Add-Ons from my previous FF incarnation would not conflict with this new install.

However, I am concerned that at some future point I might forget why I had disabled Add-ons in sync, and that if I check it and do a sync, it might re-introduce the old Add-ons.

So what I want to do now is to delete all the old Add-ons (essentially from the Sync server) . . . if they are still there -- so that if I want to check Add-ons to be synced with my new FF installation, it won't re-introduce those incompatible older add-ons.

What is the safest way to do this?

Would it work if I did the following?

- Open FF (my current working restored profile) -- but open it in Safe Mode. - check Add-ons in sync - allow sync - if the Add-ons show up, delete them

I have used Firefox since before it was called Firefox. For the last 3 years I have been using it without problem on my 2017 iMac 27". Suddenly a few days ago I started getting this a message 'The application “Firefox.app” can’t be opened.' I have uninstalled, including removing all folders and files containing Firefox or Mozilla and reinstalled versions 75.0b9, 79.0 and 80.ob5. None of which worked. None will open in safe mode. However, if I boot my computer in safe mode, it works. Return to standard mode and nothing. I have followed every suggestion I can find on Firefox's site and Apple's site. It just plain doesn't work. I love Firefox, hate Safari and tolerate Chrome. I would appreciate some help.

Reddit page becomes slow to react and even unresponsive if you scroll down enough to load approximately 400 posts. Reddit video player stops responding first (takes seconds to respond), then page begins to render with delay (scrolling, hovering over stuff still responsive though). Firefox Screenshots start to crash if you try to open them and context menu (on page) can take seconds to open.

Here's profiler data (with extensions) https://share.firefox.dev/2DXFYnD

Reproducable even with clean profile, it just takes more posts to load to see this. (but at 500 posts you can see that video player can react slowly). Other websites with infinite pages (like VK or Twitter) are working well

My windows 10 laptop setup is an external 1920x1080 at 100% zoom and the laptop screen set-up as secondary, at 2560x1440 scaled at 150%.

Firefox (79.0 (64-bit)) works fine on the primary (unscaled) display, but on the scaled display all the drop-down menus (extension, but also hamburger from firefox) are too small, and the contents are either not entirely visible (typically for the extensions) or need a scrollbar (like the main firefox menu).

I tried to run firefox with extensions disabled but the problem persists.

I think this is a Firefox bug. Is it true and if so, how do I report it?

I've discovered a bug in the interaction of Firefox and PayPal. PayPal claims it's a Firefox problem.

I've run into this making donations to two different non-profits.

1) I fill in the information on the non-profit website and click the Donate via PayPal button. 2) That brings me to a form where I choose how to pay (see PayPal1.JPG). I choose "Donate with a Debit or Credit Card." 3) I start filling in data. At some points, Firefox's Autofill pops up, as in PayPal2.JPG. Note that as I move through the Autofill list, the Country/Region dropdown switches to Panama. None of my addresses have Panama as the country. 4) When I make a selection from the Autofill list, I get a "processing" icon and when it's done, the data I've entered has been removed and the Country/Region is set to "Panama" (see PayPal3.JPG) and a cannot change it back to United states. At that point, I have to close the tab and start over and remember not to use Autofill.

As I said, PayPal says it's not their bug, and that it doesn't happen in other browsers. (I haven't tried.)

I have Windows 10, version 1903. I recently backed up my Mozilla Roaming and Local profiles to an external drive before replacing the hard drive in my laptop.

After replacing my hard drive with a new one, I restored an earlier image file of my computer in order to put back all my data onto the new drive.

Then I did a Fresh Start, effectively doing a new install of Windows 10 (v.1903).

(As far as I can tell, my old Firefox data was deleted during the Fresh Start reinstall.)

I now did a new install of Firefox onto my computer. After I opened it I synced. Because my favicons were not restored (a generic globe icon shows in their place instead), I'd like to load in my old saved profile and make that my default profile.

The problem: So I tried copying and pasting the saved profile ("bxfz7tby.default" ) back into the new Mozilla Roaming and Local profiles (e.g, into "C:\Users\,username>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\", but I can't get Firefox to access them. Instead, it only accesses the new profile it created.

I did an uninstall and tried it again, but all I ended up doing is creating another new profile. Now when I go to About:Profiles (see image), the default-release and default profiles listed don't seem to exist anymore (they aren't loadable, and they can't be found using the filepath noted there), and the actual backup profiles that I copied from my portable drive into Mozilla and that I actually see in File Explorer, doesn't show up as a profile choice.

How can I restore my old backed up profile? And if I do restore it successfully, will that also restore my missing favicons?
